Agreed McD in Japan is better than NZ. I have tried both. Please try MOS burger (a Japanese chain) it is better than McD. I like the Yakiniku in rice buns - warning it is super juicy. MOS burger is a must have whenever I get to Japan.

Can't wait to see you try MOS Burger, they're my favourite fast food burgers, unfortunately they're not in New Zealand. I hope you're recovered from the McDonald's in China - if I'd been regularly watching your channel I'd have warned you how bad they are *China Domino's was even worse...
@jumpingjohnflash17 сағат бұрын
Pizza Hut China is not really fast food, as you can see it's more "casual family" - as you noticed, the food was kinda "okay". My favorite too was the cheesy corn too, my wife really liked their mushroom soup. The local Saiseriya chain had a similar vibe to Pizza Hut - but it was cheap "Italian" food.
@jumpingjohnflash17 сағат бұрын
Agreed, McDs in China is awful aside from the chicken, their pie flavours varied - you're lucky you didn't order the red bean pie, it makes the taro pie seem gourmet. KFC is a little better, Domino's pizza sucks but their Chinese style snacks weren't too bad. If you're in a city with a Shake Shack, they're good.

We had KFC in Kyoto, and we loved it! Regular was very light golden batter then 9/10. Don't get me wrong, NZ does have some of the best KFC compared to overseas countries .

KFC has chicken pot pies in the US and they're actually delicious. The filling is made in store with pulled chicken and it's topped with a layer of puff pastry. Would definitely recommend trying when in the US

At least you're able to see it in this video! They do have options to see it without actually climbing the wall, although they are more expensive (scenic flights). I still don't understand what mochi is? As its not a thing where I'm from. Can someone please explain what it is
@GlobetrottingBrock12 күн бұрын
Mochi is a soft chewy and sweet dessert. It's primarily made from rice, but it usually has some type of filling like red bean paste or ice cream. The dessert itself starts unflavored because the rice doesn't have any flavor. Flavor is added afterwards, so the flavor options are endless (Matcha, Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, etc...). I'm assuming that you're from NZ by your username? If so you can find Lotte brand YUKIMI mochi ice cream, at most NZ supermarkets. I have seen it everywhere when I was in NZ (PakNSave, Woolworths, New World, Four Square, Fresh Choice, and many different Asian supermarkets on both the North and South Islands). It's always located by the other frozen ice creams. If you like sweets, make sure to give it a try! Normally around $10nzd for a box but you can find it for less if it's on special.
@sandramonk16 күн бұрын
To make mochi they pound steamed gluttonous rice until it forms a sticky paste. Traditionally they pound the rice in a wooden bowl with big wooden hammers. These days they have home machines like mixers. Mochi can be sweet or savoury. Sweet will have added sugar and sweet fillings. Savoury may have savoury fillings or may be plain and dipped in a soy based sauce.
@sandramonk16 күн бұрын
If you are in NZ many sushi shops sell single sweet mochi so you can try just one. St Pierres are a chain that does. I like the strawberry & cream and the chocolate & cream best

Lately there have been lots of stories on Japanese media about overtourism in Japan, especially in Kyoto and Toyoko. Did the two of you feel any effects of that? Were there places you visited that were so crowded with tourists that it wasn't worth going to? According to Japan t.v. some restaurants and other attractions are prohibiting overseas tourists. Its always a balancing act between the tourists desire to see something new and have fun, and the desire among locals to be able to live their lives without crowds and negative effects of over tourism.
@GlobetrottingBrock12 күн бұрын
We haven't encountered over-tourism anywhere we have been in Japan. Nor have we encountered any places that prohibited overseas tourists (I'm not saying they don't exist, we just haven't bumped into any). As usual, any tourist attractions will be busy with tourists (just like anywhere else in the world). It is still definitely worth a visit!
