I’ve signed up for my very first ultra in November. It’s the Wirral Ultra, 38miles, basically the whole of the Wirral Way, flat and among civilisation. The most I’ve ran is about 11k, so I plan to run/walk some of the route prior. Any tips greatly appreciated! I enjoy watching ultras so be great see your vids of the up coming ones. I prefer trail to road running.

I only taper if I want to run fast, 50km or less. I would stop peaking my mileage 3 or 4 weeks before but only take it easy on race week itself. Maybe 100 miles, 80, 60 and just a few 5 mile leg stretches the week of the race...
