If you're a photo journalist then by all means, don't edit your photos because they're supposed to show the scene exactly as it is. Otherwise it's up to the individual artist to edit their images the way they like them. Exactly as you said, there probably isn't a photo publicly displayed somewhere that hasn't had some type of editing done to it. Even the purists that have to get everything right in camera and don't do any post processing editing display a processed image if they shot it in jpeg. Whether they want to admit it or not, their camera edited the photo to add sharpening, contrast, noise reduction, etc. So even their "right out of the camera" shot has been edited. Anymore I've gotten to the point where I don't care if someone says my image was edited. In fact I tell them yes it was because that's the way I saw the image and how I wanted it to look. I'm not a photo journalist, I'm a digital artist that happens to use a camera as a tool.

I've been doing photography since the '80s and this is one of the best explanations of how to choose your settings based on what the light is doing in your intended image that I have ever seen.

It's because people don't are too lazy to take up real photography and buy a 35 mm camera , I live in Canada and I bought a Nikon F4 in excellent working condition for $217.00 .. when I came out in 88 , the Nikon F 4 , was going for $4500 lol

Hey! Even though this video is a bit old, I still had this question. What film did you use in your Nikon Camera?

Great video! Love Ansel Adams. My favorite color film is slide film though, so a video dedicated to this would be fantastic.

After having owned an RZ67 Pro II and a bunch of lenses (50mm ULD, 110mm, 127mm, 140mm macro (plus tubes), 180mm), 3 backs, AE prism, and so on, my back is going to thank me this Saturday when I go to pick up champagne/gold Mamiya 7II from interstate. :) Can I ask what those little tags are you have hanging off the strap lugs? Cheers!

The mu takes a lot better pictures than the disposable, but it doesn't seem to have the magic that disposable has. I don't know what it is, but i think it isn't really the resolution, seems to be more of the lense flare, the colors, and the contrast. Maybe a different film with higher iso would fix that though. Also, on some shots the mu had even more of that magic than the disposable. I don't get it.

I bought a Nikon FE in 1979, later I bought a Nikon MD12 motor drive for it, I still have both they work and look like new.

Ah yes, I know the feeling, and I'm not even a good photographer...but the comment about gear kills me. It's like saying "Wow, your mom has a nice stove, she must be a great cook!!! "

Great video, question, if you take a reflective meter of the blackest point and the brightest point, couldn't you just average the reading?

Hey I have one of these! Or rather, my wife Sarah has one. She just uploaded a video to my channel showing it off. Please ignore her when she says stuff about me kidnapping her and locking her in my film cooler. All lies!

The biggest mistake i made when i started was to try to shoot film as if it were digital. You have to unlearn everything you learned in 4k, autofocus, auto-adjust, phone, etc photography, and that's great because you're entering a world where nothing is a true mistake, it all has a meaning; you simply might need to figure out what it was.

I wish more places developed 110 film. I love 110 as an easy alternative to disposable cameras since i don't need to worry about screwing up winding film. But alas, my favorite mail in service is 35 only
