I have the Confidence 30's and I used the factory rubber feet which came with the speaker. They seem effective. You say kinda isolate? Are you not sure, should I be using something else? I have hardwood floors.

Hello... I have a question about mounting speakers to stand. You said that is possible to screw them to the stand. But speakers (for example Evoke 20) don't have ready-made screw at the bottom. Im little affraid to drill a hole into speaker cabinet. Can you give recommendation which way is the best?

Since I am not able to contact Dynaudio direct by any means, maybe you can answer a question. I own a pair of Confidence 30's In the ruby wood finish. What material is this speaker made from? is it plywood, a special hard wood etc? Can you please reply?

Burnt / melted voice coil is akin to a completely burned batch of cup cakes, you are not in doubt at all - and as stated, usually followed by a lot of rattling and scraping.

So if the tweeter gets pushed in at all and is left that way for an unknown amount of time but sucked out way after the fact, is it just broken and useless at a certain point?
@DragonMastersFindsАй бұрын
For reference I found a pair at a thrift store. My brother did the whole sucking it out thing for me lol (that sounds terrible 😂😂) but I honestly don’t have any way of knowing how to hook them up to anything to test. Should I just assume they’re destroyed and need to be fully replaced?

What a nasty manipulation is to saying that closed cabs are good for low extension. In reality it's completely opposite. Even if they have smoother roll off, which in itself is true. But it's only half of truth and there is a saying: A half-truth is a whole lie. Very, very nasty of you. And look at your page. You claim, your sub3 reproduce 22Hz +/- 3dB at 85dB. Reffering to Fletcher-Munson curves it's usefull for circa 20dB 1kHz signal. So it's on a threshold of human hearing. In other words it's completely useless. BIG xD. After this video I know to completely avoid your company and products.

I use for many years only Dynaudio Active speakers from Xeo to Focus. Amazing performance. People can still change the sound with Dirac. I always did with the Xeo using a minidsp SHD. I would love to see a new countour line with better and modern looks active speakers keeping the front baffle but no screws to be seen.

Excellent masterclass. Use these measurements to mark the distance from the speaker to the rear wall (1/5) but for the distance from the side wall apply 1/7. This approach is like the one Vandersteen suggests, which consists of dividing the room into odd numbers and finding your best location As a Dynaudio user and now a Perlisten user, great masterclass

Hi Otto! Very nice videos and very interesting toppings! Can you please tell me something that is hard to understand from my side? I have always related small diameter drivers to low power units, and big drivers for high power. For example, when I started with hi fi systems,I did with a 25 watts stereo amplifier (Sansui , by the way). At that time I used a DIY 2 way system with a 8” woofer, and it’s excursion was way big just with 25 watts, and of course it sound very loud! ..So..why do I need to drive a bookshelf speaker with a 60 or 100 watts amplifier? Does this only means wasting of energy? Or just getting the drivers to it’s limits with no sense? Hope you get the idea and can clarify this a bit in some other video. Thank you!
@CurlyHoward928Ай бұрын
Can my aging 15 year old speakers develop woofer sag? I've heard that rotating the woofers 180 degrees in the cabinet is a good idea. Is this really necessary?
@KCYT2010Ай бұрын
A speaker cone is held in place and aligned by the voice coil and magnet. The surround of your speaker is not significantly supporting the cones weight. The surround can deteriorate and break down from age but it wouldn't do it more on the bottom because of the cones weight. Of course the quality of the speaker is a factor in this. I have some classic Celestions from the 70's that still work and sound great. Dynaudio makes very high quality speakers and I guarantee you they'll last longer than 15 years.
@Iwanttobefree4229 күн бұрын
Most likely only if you have uneven drag on the driver, like those that are tilted 45 degress. You can do a sag calculation if you have the driver specifications. If its mounted fully vertically, then its very unlikely.

Hi guys. It's great to see you talking about this issue. Optimizing your speaker placement is the lowest hanging fruit out there because it's free. In regards to you comments, when you place the speaker against the wall and you experience LF acoustical loading, it's important to note that the boost is near minimum phase, which means it can be quite easily compensated for (if you prefer less bass) by using the subtractive LF shelf directly on the back panel of the speaker. This also will have the extra benefit of making the speaker more efficient and reducing distortion. Given that you can simply shelve the LF down to compensate for acoustical loading, why would you want to move the speaker away from the wall? This puts the reflected energy out of phase, which cannot be compensated for with causal EQ. Regarding SBIR, as you gap out the speaker from the wall, you will experience boundary nulling in your low end at the 1/4 wavelength frequency. Moving the speaker around will not fix the problem; it will only shift the cancellation notch - which will remain in the critical bass region unless you're able to gap the speaker 3m or more into the room and shift the cancellation null into the infrasonic range. You'll also have constructive interference, which will amplify the bass where it's in phase. So you now have a compromised LF frequency response. In my view, considering the physics, it's not a good solution to move the speaker out from the wall. You create a problem (the hole in your LF) which cannot be fixed with EQ. No amount of room EQ can fix boundary nulling. You cannot fix a time-based problem with a frequency-based solution.

What is infrasonic range? I will maybe get big room like 30 - 40m2. Where should i start with speaker placement? 1/3 of a room or with front wall? You said 3m or more in to the room? Is maybe this good starting point? Sorry i am little confused right now but i will be managing my new studio soon :D And maybe some recommendation what should i do with big ceiling? Should i lower the ceiling or just install cloud panels instead? Thank you very much...
@warpacademyАй бұрын
@@thmbackspace Hey hey. Infrasonic range is below 20 Hz. In most cases, putting the speaker this far into the room is going to be completely impractical. So it's usually the best solution to place the speaker directly against the wall, or to use a subwoofer that highpasses your top monitors, giving you the freedom to move them forwards as the sub can be positioned against or in the wall. Watch this video from GIK. These folks explain it very clearly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imKTkICCfLR1nMU& For your ceiling you most certainly don't want to move it lower. Ceiling height is one of the biggest constraining factors in most project studios. Ideally you want 12 foot ceilings in a professional control room. And yes, you definitely want to add absorption to your ceiling. If you have the space, you'd want a layer spanning the entire ceiling, and then a second layer ceiling cloud that hangs. If you're building a room, make sure you do your research. Read the book Home Recording Studio by Rod Gervais and Recording Studio Design by Philip Newell AES. Maybe throw in the Master Handbook of Acoustics for good measure. They're all good and will help you avoid making mistakes. Cheers.

Hello Dynaudio! I write music and do mixing. I want to buy a monitor for myself and I can't decide between two models. Please tell me, as far as I know, the amplitude-frequency response of the lyd7 and lyd8 are absolutely the same. Although usually 8-inch monitors have a wider range of low frequencies than 7-inch ones. Then what is the difference between the dynaudio lyd7 and lyd8? Do I understand correctly that a larger and heavier 8-inch speaker will not be able to reproduce the midrange as well as a lighter 7-inch speaker? Then what is the advantage of the 8-inch lyd8 model if it cannot give a lower resonant frequency compared to the lyd7 model? And one more question. What is the frequency response of the lyd7 and lyd8 at the level of +/- 3db?

You can wire a center speaker in a 2 speaker system by taking the plus from the left and hooking it the negative on your center speaker. then taking the plus from the right speaker and hooking it to the positive on your center speaker. Both positives go to the center speaker, One to the negative terminal the other to the positive terminal. I just did this myself t. It works great!

QUESTION: My loudspeakers are about 16 years old and I love their performance. They were expensive high end speakers and I want to preserve and maintain them as long as possible. So I was wondering if there is any benefit in rotating the mid/woofer 180 degrees to prevent any sagging of the foam surround or other rubber parts. In other words the 12 o'clock position of the driver becomes the 6 o'clock position. Your thoughts please.

Contour S5.4, one of them sounds a little bit duller. Tried different locations, exchanged monoblock amps with the other speaker and no change, so I assume it is the speaker. Coincidentally, it has a couple small dents on the tweeter. Could that be the reason of the slightly duller sound? Or would it be a crossover issue? Your advise will be appreciated.
