To those who still think that there is something super secretive in the tominecon.7z file, there isn't. File encryption is NOT an ARG. Basically everyone has passwords in almost all of their accounts and devices which doesn't imply that they are also hiding something super secretive like nuclear launch codes.

It's actually possible to get a larger file than the original using 7-zip, with some bad settings.

Just FYI while I have not watched the final vid yet I thought I would let you know that posting anything on a public server instantly makes it public domain, so even if you cracked it, it is not illegal, or illicit, because for them to do anything about it they would have had to show there was a reason it MUST be on that public server and exposed but made secure and needed to remain secure for all time. Also the swap does do something important, people that might have had the original could very well override it with this version unintentionally, so by flooding the internet with fake files they were actually hiding it through obscurity. This even happened for World of Warcraft. the main reason why they didn't do Classic for years was they LOST the original, until one day one of the programmers that was now in management was going through some old backup drives of his and buried deep in a 14 level deep directory structure was wow1.0.1.zip the official release version. They right away came out with Classic after verifying and testing it, its funny they had all the patches after v1.0.1 but not the actual game, it was found in a totally obscure place, but this was hampered by the fact that the backups at the time where all called the same thing so they kept getting overwritten. So unless you crack it in the 3rd video to know for sure who knows what is on it, and what it could be used for, if anything i think it is a non compressed version of the game, so aka source files, even now those files very well could still exist in the current game and could be used to find exploits, or maybe its their porn collection from dick pics from the office staff, who knows but writing something off before it has been solved only makes it more interesting, and if they did delete it, that would have most likely caused anyone that did have the original file to start mass uploading it to get help cracking it because clearly they are hiding something and hence outrage, a swap does not do that, with the dawn of Quantum computers in the next couple years AES well be full broken, so will all other current security algorithms. anyways just wanted to add my piece into this interesting drama, Oh one other thing, anyone that has a computer that has a 4090 can now get AI learning code that they can use the GPU to devote all of its Kuda cores too do the decrypting and they have a lot of cores millions upon millions and they work much faster then CPU cracking and I have seen them crack passwords a super computer could not, so there's that. :P Off to vid 3 not hope that help.

Nonsense. Once someone leaks a file, even an encrypted one, it's fair game!! If that's a problem, take it up with whoever intentionally or unintentionally leaked the file, as it's not my problem! And that's not just directed at the Minecraft devs, that goes for ANYONE.

I dont get why you would need to go though all AES-256 Keys. You just need the passphrase aka the password the 7z file was encrypted with Correct me if im wrong but from what i know (and maybe this is wrong) you run a unlock try with all characters and numbers until like AAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAB AAAAAAAAAAC and so on. You dont need to check all AES keys. If you try to open the file, you need to insert a password and not all those keys. Hence, you could just type in all the combinations there are with ta max length of lets say 16. So a brute force attack would still take a long time.... but not as long as checking all keys

Encryption level depends on the makers choice, they could have chosen anything up to aes-256 but doesn’t necessarily mean it’s automatically aeS-256

The mystery will be solved one day, there is no chance that this will be secure until the end of human existence if the don’t nuke us all. Maybe it needs 10 years, maybe 50 years, maybe 100 years, but it will be cracked.

This would be done if he shared the password. The people wanna know. Just tell us the damn password. But we know it's likely not randomly generated. So cracking ain't impossible. Someone said a 4090 would take 2 weeks.

I have a couple of theories regarding the photo. 1) A motion detecter based camera. 2) The institute took the photo & sent it to a personality in an attempt to help the healing process Personally I think option 1 is more likely. From what the emails at the end say the institute was mostly letting him sort it out on his own & having a motion camera or one set to take a photo when something is triggered is something that could be realistically done
