Crazy to see a perfectly nice and shiny old truck doing stuff like this, i mean...drive it sure, use it for work, great, off road it, yeah, but...lets try as hard as we can to absolutely destroy it without destroying it...idk, these people got disposable vehicle money ig...kind of sad. at least they made it without scratching the paint. I got a '73 Ford F100 with that same grill...but it was pretty well wrecked and rusted before I even bought it. Then a tree fell on it, but it still can go.

Take a trip to Moab. They have tours that take you in a hummer over the rocks to epic views and exciting adventure of getting to those views. Ya might like it.

It looks like you did get penetration, but all the starting and stopping introduces impurities and porosity that could cause it to crack. Once you tack it in place you should stand it up and weld all the way around in one go
