Does this method require having to introduce a new queen to the top box you are taking away, seeing as you leave the queen and all eggs in one box and move the box with no queen or eggs?

Hi Devan the problem i seem to be having is they’re backfilling with nectar leaving no room for brood

Some areas must not have much propolis. I have to fight to separate my boxes. Plus if I set a box on the ground the propolis will pick up dirt and grass on the edge of the box.

How many gallons from August 1 (when I pull my honey) to the beginning of sugar brick feeding would you expect to feed if your 10 frame hive was pretty empty on stores.

Devan, how do I introduce a queen into the brood box that has no queen? Do I have to purchase one? Or is there a way to have them raise one?

Hi Devin saw your video..really good. I 've been running double deep to help control hive population. I've seen other vids on single. Brood chamber. But you and others are having to pull brood out regularly to control over population or swarming..and make Nucs or splits. I don't want to make splits or Nucs all the time..are wintering in singles as well? If so how do you provide enough honey to last the winter?

if you didn't have queen confined to one box and had plenty of empty comb for her you wouldn't be having to go through your hives knocking down queen cells, you prevent issues, not waste time fixing problems you created. if a queen is under 2yrs old they will not be inclined to swarm if you keep the honey off them and queen has plenty of room to lay.

misconception: top insulation (>6cm, >2.5inch) = no moisture over bee cluster but running down the sides to the bottom where bees can drink it - like in natural tree cavities! See Prof Tom Seeley: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnqyZHlpatOfr6csi=GNzggdDYdsXM84iE&t=2774 -- no top entrence!

math also includes: better bred Qs & situation in winter: honey storage + brood/cluster-frames in one box: that's why continental beekeepers have that Langstroth jumbo/Dadant box : 470 x 370 x 295 mm; frame: 480 x 285 mm (after Brother Adam ) and in square 12 frame design to switch position 90degrees of boxes

Sticky boards are not really necessary, just a board will do the trick. Anything falling down is usually dead or not very mobile. If you have any mites on the board? Then you will undoubtedly have hundreds or thousands more in the hive.

@8:00 steal? 😂 you're the one stealing, not the bees. The honey belongs to them. They did all the work.
@18Yoav Жыл бұрын
The problem with single management is it doesn't lend itself well to natural beekeeping. once you remove the supers the bees are starving. There is a limit to what they can put in one box so it requires more inputs like feeding, supplements etc..

Why do you have to find the queen before shaking the bees off the frames?
@diane-x6d Жыл бұрын
Hi from the central Highlands, Victoria Australia 👋. We don’t use queen excluders and find that over winter, the colony survives by positioning centrally between the upper and lower boxes. If the Spring is colder, we may extract less honey (over the season), but we haven’t lost a colony over winter. Thanks for your post- it’s interesting 👍
