The last time I was out there in 2023 fishing they had tore up those free random camping areas along the Lynx creek road making it impossible to camp there.

Gorgeous! Are you back in your apartment in Jasper now??🤞 We are still debating, (well I am at least), doing the remainder of the GDT this coming summer, we got to about 1 week hike from Jasper (nobo). Do you think it's worth $3,000 flights to finish the hike? 🧐 My other options would be so go on CDT or even the Colorado Trail.. You guys have any hiking plans for this summer?
@RockyMountainScrambler2 ай бұрын
@@Greghikes1 hi! Yes, we’re back in Jasper - things are weird, but it’s ok. Nothing for sure this summer, but lots of ideas - CT or CDT included!

Wow! Amazing video's Bridget! I am planning my GDT section hike for 2025 and your video's are (by far) the most helpful. This video of the Barnaby ridge was amazing! Definitely want to hit up Barnaby. Do you have any recommendations on where to camp? I was thinking Jutland creek to Grizzly Lake one day, and Grizz Lake to Lynx the next.

Hello! I'm not super experienced with backpacking and do not have a lot of stamina. Do you think it's worth the extra 8 km to get to Athabasca Crossing, is it that different than just going to Chaba? Like in terms of views, or the feeling of remoteness/wilderness? Or do you think just going to Chaba will be amazing enough? I may try for Athabasca Crossing but only if it's worth the extra effort/time. Note: I was going to likely rent a mountain bike to make it easier/faster. Thanks for any feedback!
@RockyMountainScrambler7 ай бұрын
Hi there. So you’re thinking of overnighting at Big Bend and then Athabasca Crossing? As a beginner backpacker that would be a good one - and then your third day you could hike out to the trailhead. The River crossing to Fortress wouldn’t be possible right now, of course. There’s lots of exploring to do down by the river at each of the campsites. Happy hiking!
@Grateful2Exist7 ай бұрын
@@RockyMountainScrambler Oh I thought you stop at the river crossing and that's where the athabasca crossing camping pads are. If I need to cross a river I'll skip that. I was thinking of doing one night. If I do Athabasca Crossing I'd definitely need a bike. I'm researching if I can just pack light so I can throw a medium pack on my back. May be simpler to just do Chaba as I've never bikepacked before. But I'm really hoping to get into a remote area away from other humans, in the true wilderness. I love that feeling. I can check other options since Chaba may have traffic and other campers. If I hike instead of bike, I'm looking for no more than say 500ft elevation gain and 4ish miles one way, and hopefully nobody else or not many others. If I bike I can do more miles. Open to suggestions, but no biggie I'll also check the websites. Thank you for the feedback!

are there food lockers at McArthur or a hang?
@RockyMountainScrambler7 ай бұрын
I want to say that it was a hang, but you should check the website because they may have put in lockers since then. 😊

@@RockyMountainScrambler website, where I’ve looked anyway, doesn’t mention anything. I’ll try the visitor center and see if they know. We’re just doing the Rockwall, but coming in from McArthur (weather permitting) so it doesn’t make sense to bring a bear can if I don’t have to as all the other spots have lockers

@@RockyMountainScrambler ended up cancelling McArtur after talking to them as there’s a bunch of snow in Goodsir Pass still. We’ll go back to plan A which is to (hopefully) do the Rockwall if it doesn’t get cancelled by PC. Of course, I’m a dumb-ass and forgot to ask about the bear box/hang situation at McArthur when I called.
