My folks own a 2022 Chevy dually and it's hilarious how quick it is when passing on the highway or just turning from a stop. As for the comments about your driving, ignore 'em man. It’s so clear that Europe and Japan perfected and refined the car and America perfected and refined the truck. Not a truck owner (yet) but might be looking at getting into one to tow a dedicated race car + supplies to the track. Never really realized how well thought out and usable pickups have become over the years, it’s pleasantly surprising. ZR2 is overkill for my use case for just towing a car around and the occasional light off-roading, but prices on these seem like they’re getting pretty wild for what it is which is kind of unfortunate.

Is it though? It's very easy to build out a ford F-250 super duty with a nice interior to 100k. I dont disagree that 86k is a lot of money but in terms of what you get from a truck it seems on par. Let me know if you see other trucks with these types of options for much less. I could be missing something.

@@TedwardDrives You're right. It's a common trend that everything nowadays seems to have skyrocketed in price, but people are still buying these vehicles and will probably continue to for a long while. A lot of folks online say they want a cheap, barebones, "real work truck" but when companies like Toyota or Nissan offer cheap, base model versions of their trucks, they don't sell. The days of sub-$20 or 30k trucks are long gone but some just don't realize it yet.

It's not the turbo you are waiting on. Its the tq converter. It won't allow max tq to be applied to the wheels until a certain speed and lock up happens. And 3200 is likely the redline. Diesels don't rev high at all.
@TedwardDrives8 ай бұрын
You can see the redline 😆. It’s higher

The front end does lock up. It’s automatic! You have to put it in off-road mode . That is the only mode at the front will lock up. It doesn’t have a solid front axle. It’s a different design. It’s like the G80 rear end. Having the front end being independent, change a lot. But yeah, the 2500 only in the zR2 with off-road mode has the locker for the front end

Been a while since your last truck review, it's nice to see another one. I've been pretty generous towards them (for an European) and your videos are the sole reason I definitely want to own one at some point before I put one foot in my coffin already so I can actually use it for purposes it's been made for. Now, when it comes to this one - it is actually too much for my European-programmed brain to comprehend. It is INTIMIDATING. Your Type R looked like an RC car next to it, genuinely. If I saw one behind me while sitting in a Golf or something similar size - I don't care, I'm speeding just to get away from it. 😂Like, some other trucks that you passed or the Wrangler or the Escalade - all of these cars were just tiny next to the Chevy. For me it felt closer in size to the red trolley(?) truck that you passed than to some other trucks present on video. A thing I learned from this one is that big ahh trucks ain't for me. Felt a bit dizzy watching this due to how high you're sitting w/o piloting a semi. I think I couldn't do anything bigger than a TRX. It always amazes me how capable these are. After you climbed that little hill with a ditch on the left, I was like "cool, now surely you're taking the left to turn back, right?" and then you just proceed to crawl forward like it's nothing. I am sitting with my palms getting sweaty over here, meanwhile the Chevy just takes it like it's nothing. That's the reason why you made me want to own a truck at some point - so I can first-hand experience offroad capabilities of one, learn the limits. It's just really fascinating for me for whatever reason. Also, on a final note - I like the big exhaust on this one. Sorry for this obnoxious essay of a comment, but your truck vids always generate so many thoughts I just want to get out in hopes not a single soul wastes their time reading through them. 😶

FYI in normal drive mode it takes off in second gear. When towing it takes off in first. The 2500HD gas engines comes with a front locker. The diesel makes to much torque for the front locker so its not included. A Yenko 2500HD ZR2 would be bad Azz. Just found out they offer those.

It’s just plain bad. I looked to buy the HD ZR2 when they 1st hit dealers in PHX. The left rear door fit very poorly. Rode like a dump truck on the highway (the DSSV rear shocks need some load before they will compress). After I passed on the purchase, I found out they failed to properly weld the body side to the rest of the body. This is a crash safety hazard. Not just the truck I test drove. All of the early builds had to be inspected for major structural repairs. And, would you want the dealer to tear out the interior & headliner to fix the body welds on your brand-new $85K truck? Last GM I bought was a flat out mess. One of the early build C7 Z06s. Body panels mis-molded. Drivers door didn’t fit right. Manual transmission would get stuck in reverse gear. Engine suffered from heat soak if outside temps were above 80 degrees. Piece of sh#t. That being said, I was really impressed by the Duramax. Luv me a good diesel!

There is something off with American designers when it comes to intrumentation. Look at the insruments in the Lexus. It is pleasant to the eyes and easy to read. On the truck, why Chevy had to do the weird octagon shape is unknown as it adds zero functionality and is ugly and annoying to look at. Ford just went to all digital gauges, whichis fine, but they did the gimmic of using bar graphs for the speedo and tach! Insanely stupid. Of the big 3, Ram probably has the best instruments as they kept the pure analog needle on dial which makes it highly legible and easy to read! If there are no American designers who know what they're doing, and this includes management who gave the green light to these bad designs, then just copy what Porsche or even Honda has done! It's not that hard!
