Thanks Gerald. I do have a Sennheiser AVX Lav Mic, but did not use it in this particular video. I also use a Beachtek DXA PRO+ camera audio adapter with it, which really good, but just more setup time, and Lav AVX batteries need to be pre-charged, which doesn't always fit with my reality. :) (I should also have a wired lav mic, I know). Other times I've used the AVX, but the batteries ran out during recording, so I've had to fall back to the camera mic which is excruciatingly bad (obviously, meant more for syncing up audio with video in post than capturing sound in high fidelity). I do what I can in Adobe Audition in post, but still not great. It's always better to optimize it at capture time. For me, sound is challenging in general because l'm in different rooms, often cold from an acoustics perspective (monitors, metal, bare drywall, etc.), I'm a one-person setup (I have to put on the headphones, do a sound check, try to maximize SNR as I'm doing everything else, etc.). Anyway, I super appreciate your feedback, and am endeavoring to increase my attention to audio, and my experience/facility with making it sound good. :) Thanks again!

Hey Joseph. I'm not sure, but it was one of those curbs where the concrete is on the same level as the asphalt, so it was not a concern. It may also have been the old firmware. It's a neat feature, but honestly, it's way faster just to parallel park on my own.

@@jmadratz We love our MX. It's now 5.3 old, and we opted to not get the extended warranty. We've had c. C$59 worth of repairs since our 4y warranty expired. You cannot beat Tesla Mobile Service. I do my own brake maintenance, which is essentially the only maintenance you have to do. If a Tesla Ranger comes to your house to do it, it's dirt cheap. This maintenance is required because, with regenerative braking, the rotors/calipers don't get hot, so moisture will not immediately evaporate, leading to a light rusting of parts. No problem, but if you let it build up for a few years, you're in for a C$400 visit to Tesla to get the pins out. Incidentally, our brake pads still look nearly new after over 5y! We have free Supercharging for life, but don't generally use it (maybe 2-3x/year), despite there being one 6km from our home. It costs only C$8.20 to charge at home using our Tesla high power wall charger, 0-100% (475km) during off-peak hours, and I'd rather do that than miss time at home waiting at a Supercharger.

How does the light attach to the stand
@jdacnc23432 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica. Thanks for watching! It's a standard kind of attachment in photography lighting. The set screw has to be super loose when you put it on, to make sure it gets past the wider section on the stand. Once you've gotten past that, screw the set screw so that it's tight. I remember having the same question when I first saw this kind of connection in other lights. I'm guessing that the reason is that you can loosen it to rotate the light, without fear that it will fall off. This way they can even be used overhead. Does all of that make sense?

@LivingTech2 жыл бұрын
Hi jedmonds! Thanks for watching, and your positive feedback. I really appreciate it. :) OK, so maybe try the following ideas: Have you adjusted the nuts on the latch cable so that the correct distance is achieved? If it is not, and just on the edge of acceptable, that little difference could cause it to not latch properly. Don't forget that the nuts have to be tightened in the correct opposing position, to keep the setting firmly in place. Also, it was a while ago, but I do remember that there is an initial calibration that happens automatically, I believe. with the frunk liner and gasket in place, try opening the frunk with the fob (or from the interior), then closing it by hand. Then open with remote and close with remote. Did this fix the problem? Please let me know if that helps.

Thanks for the great video David. Did you record the part at the end or have any photos of where you placed the two rectangular boxes… control module and release motor? Also at 18min, you showed the cable that goes to the lighted frunk release button for debugging. My kit doesn’t spit like yours so the button is either wired to the original wire or Hansshow’s wire. Either way, whenever I press this button, the frunk ONLY closes. Do you know what’s going on here? Tech support hasn’t got back to me
@LivingTech2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven. Thank you for watching! OK, I've searched and no, I don't have photos or footage of that part. I was super pressed for time by the end of the video, so I skipped recording this part. :) Anyway, I remember where they each went. The release motor was put just behind of the driver's side headlight, and the control module is right up beside the battery. I had to put it there, because the supplied cable was not long enough to put that where I wanted it to go, which was behind the headlight as well. I realize that I could have extended the wire, but I didn't have the type of waterproof connector I wanted for it. Anyway, it is exactly 2 years later, today, and all is still working perfectly. As far as your problem with the frunk only closing, your release cable might not be positioned exactly correctly, as far as how much you moved the latch, via release cable with the opposing nuts. This is the critical part of the installation. You can see what I did starting at 12:50 in the video. If it is too little or too much, then you have to adjust that. Does any/all of that help?

You need to either get rid of the room tone reflection or match your audio edits to the same room tone. If you need help DM me.
@LivingTech3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony. I assume you mean sampling the room noise floor, and subtracting that from the overall waveform. When the noise is worse than this, I do just that, using Adobe Audition, especially if it is consistent. I also sometimes sample the fan noise, and subtract that out when it kicks in. Is this the kind of thing you mean? (When I click on your name, I don't get the option to DM you.)
@tonyr.47783 жыл бұрын
@@LivingTech not quite. It's not the room noise as much as the early reflections that give it a slight echo and that gives the impression of the size of the room. Removing the ambient room noise from the original or adding it to the edit will help, but you will still hear the edit. There are some plugins that address that specific issue. The two that come to mind are altiverb, which would allow you to sample the room acoustics using an impulse like a clap or pink noise, then the room characteristics (including early reflections) can be saved as a preset and used like a reverb any time you do an audio insert. The other is a plugin that analyses the sound and removes the reverb (de-verb) from the original. Which works better, the adding or removal, is a try and see effort. The reason spectral analysis and removal doesn't work in this case is the sound that is the problem doesn't exist in the room tone, but only when you talk. Hope that helps. Of course the simplest option is to record the inserted audio clip using the same mic in the same setup. Even though it may be done on another day, the sound should be close enough to work.
@LivingTech3 жыл бұрын
@@tonyr.4778 Thanks so much for this response! OK, I get it, and will try! I care very much about the audio, as it makes or breaks a video, in my view. I'll first look back at my setup, which mic(s)/preamp I used, etc. to get a baseline. I have noticed that while the room noise subtraction function helps, as you've already said, it doesn't address the early reflections, as you've also said. Further, while I do use the deverb tool built into Premiere Pro or Audition, I tone it down, because it begins to sound artificial at a certain point. I'm very possibly applying it in a sub-optimal way. I'm currently working on S-Log-3 on my Sony A7SIII, but will hit on the audio per your advice after I've figured out the video. Breakservice once a year👍 Greetings from Norway where they salt the roads like crazy
@LivingTech3 жыл бұрын
Hi, and thank you. Two things. First, the binding is because, unlike normal brakes, Teslas have regenerative braking, so the rotors don’t get hot. This means that, when the rotors get wet, the water does not evaporate, so a thin rust film is created. Second, yes, brake lubes are essential, and should be done yearly. I just got my first brake lube after 3.25 years. The Mobile service technician was unable to get the pins out, so I had to take the car into a Service Centre. In the end, it cost C$375 to get them unstuck and properly lubed.
