Pro tip: when he says "lace the skates correctly," that means DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FIRST FOUR LACES FROM THE TOE. This makes sure your toes don't freeze. Just count four eyelets up starting from the toe of the skate, pull out excess slack (but don't tighten them), then begin fully tightening the rest of the laces from the fifth eyelet up. :)

“Skating is a cure in the summer” thanks for that 😂 I really need it… I feel a bit upset that it’s the end of winter and I feel like it’s so long to wait for another year to snow ski again, so, I’m studying should I do skating or ice skating during the other seasons.

As some who grew up playing street hockey, I'm jealous of that slide skill.

Cheap soft skates are fine for casual skating, and if you're just beginning, they aren't a terrible place to start. That being said, if you decide to progress on to playing hockey, fair warning, taking a puck in the side of cheap skates while blocking a shot could be incredibly painful. Played decades on defense and couldn't imagine a soft boot now, but my first pair were Daoust 301s way back in the day, and they were buttery soft and got me to love skating, one painful play in a game got me shopping for a higher end pair of CCM'S and just went on from there. Not knocking cheap skates if it inspires a love of skating.

Wow you don't have the same kind of streets we do. We have gutters that are made of the same slab of cement so there's a rack between the tar and cement it sucks

I always do mostly rollerblading in summer and hen ice skating in winter- the only issue I have is the nearest rink to me is expensive and still far away
