I would have pulled that air filter out until I could get to a parts store. Would not hurt it one bit.

This truck was rather parked in an insulated garage. Besides, how did the cabin rise after 25 years?

Great idea. Bucket trucks are always in better shape than dump trucks, and almost never had plow blades.

Not very smart...jack stands on the springs & not the frame? You gotta be kidding me. And doing the work on an aluminum floor flatbed trailer that has the potential to move. You're looking for disaster if that thing falls or moves. Other than this, great stuff. Just do it safely, ese.

Were you ever able to identify the exact year and month of manufacture on this old greenie? I'm tracking body style changes over time. The turn sigs dropped from the side mirrors to the quarter panels some time after 5/87.

Nothing better for an engine than a bunch of rat nest crap in the air cleaner to be sucked into the engine. Guess you should have checked that and all the fluids before attempting to start the engine.

The triple 7 is a by pass filter. Every 20mins oil is filterd through as a secondary measure for oil filtration. In my opinion the greatest engine Ever. The 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸

Definitely put tubes in ALL the tires. It’s my opinion that any not used on the highway benefits from having tubes. I would be shocked if they don’t have tubes in them already. Should have came that way from the factory.

If it's going to stay outside I would put a 5gl or a smaller bucket over the exhaust pipe so you don't get water into the engine it looks like a nice old Ford backhoe it looks like you have lots of hydraulic lines that needs to be replaced when you are pulling stumps out you might want to fill your front bucket with dirt or stone so you have extra weight on the front to keep the front wheels on the ground lol or just skup up the stumps with the front bucket

Some paint (either the yellow it is, or the Ford blue that there is on it), a new seat cushion, then good to go for another couple decades..Lol! You nailed a deal for sure.

Have to agree. Some paint and a wirewheel over the rust is a game changer for the machine.

My dad had one just like that. He broke the swing chain on the backhoe because he was pushing a stump sideways. Other than that it was a good machine.

Hey Cletus get the gun and call the cops somebody's trying to steal our backhoe loader for $600 L.O.L. Man you got way lucky on that machine scrap up here in Canada's about 300 a ton from what I heard this week, that machine weighs way more than that a ton unprepared. I've just paid $1500 for a complete factory original Fordson major tractor in about the same condition without a backhoe and loader to stop it getting scrapped. luckily I got it running and driving easily to, it weighs quite a bit with a full set of factory cast wheel weights that pushed the price higher. Thanks for sharing, Take care
