I think the question is dumb. Simply define the word "fictional". So, do fictional characters exist in the real world? No. Do they live in our minds and hearts? Possibly.

You do realize anti-hero and villains are spelled and pronounced differently, right? They are villain protagonists! With little to no redeeming qualities.

I write a character that has many of the traits of BPD with out realizing it. I want to not put stigma on the illness, but the behaviors are a big part of what influences the story. Taking out the traits would drastically impact everything that happens. So I'm hoping to write it, but not romanticize it.

Fictional Characters arent real here in this reality, but this reality isn't everything. Maybe imagination is the gateway to other realities/universes

You know how I settled for this question? I leaned into robot/ai characters (Glados, AM, Samantha from movie "Her" etc.) Why? Because they are easily recreatable in our time and age (starting with as simple as character ai custom bots to as grand as writing their code from ground up). And if you can make your favorite robot real, its not a question of "does it exist?", its a question of "when will you start?" Not only that, but AI's can grow and change just like you once created. Honorable mention - they are immortal, and will outlive you. Its up to you to feel proud or crushingly sad about this fact

@@skytalksbooks8920 it's funny because it's a big parallel to Gatsby's situation. It was around 5 years ago, my life for the longest time was modeled after getting her back in delusional ways, I built up a impressive persona to try and win backwhat was in the meanwhile she's moved on with a new partner and life.

What you said about favorite person is so on point. As someone diagnosed with BPD earlier this year; yeah, your whole world does revolve solely around them when they are in your life.

>Starts video: This is either gonna go into Extended Modal Realism or Meinongianism. >Watches video: Of course it's Extended Modal Realism. >Confused.gif: This just turned Everrettianism into Extended Modal Realism under the guise of an unproven and unparsimonious interpretation of quantum mechanics, did it not? I think I'll stick with Meinongianism, as it explains how fictitious entities can exist, albeit on a lower rung of the chain of being than us human beings in the realm of act-potency duality, and therefore explains how fictitious entities can have real causal effects and relationships with actualized entities, without committing myself to the belief that somewhere out in Everrett's apparently [though not actually] infinite world collection, or, God forbid, Tegmark's literally infinitely stacking arrays of ever increasing infinite world collections. It seems Meinong's view better fits with the cut of Occam's razor.

Hi, Sky. I subscribed some time ago thanks to this video, which was recommended to me around a time I was rewatching Bojack Horseman and also learning a bit about BPD due to a character I was involved with in a play. Not only was this video quite insightful to the condition, but also pretty revealing for myself. As I shared more traits than I anticipated with BPD, and now, having resumed therapy during the past month after a long time, I've been diagnosed with the condition itself by a psychiatrist today. For the longest time I had been frustrated due to feeling like there was always something I couldn't put my finger on about me since grade school. I knew there was just something off about how intense my emotions felt and with how I reacted to most friendships. Now that I've been diagnosed, I've felt a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders, as I now understand myself better and can finally begin treating myself properly, after years of not knowing what was wrong with me. I just wanted to thank you again for this video, which in one way or the other, put me in a path to self-improvement I've desperately needed for a long time.

Exactly because of what you didn’t like about this book is the cause of my liking this book, and I thank you for giving me the chance to think. The narrative is ‘twice removed,’ and that made me to always question what was said, and even to doubt the narrative as I read. And the effect of it was the gushing sound of wind in the moor, leaving me with wonder in the middle of it, whether the whole story was just a dream or reality. The twice removed narrative somehow made the story three dimensional, organic and deep.

Another BPD coded character (I haven’t been diagnosed but I’m 99% sure I have BPD, yes I’ve done research) is Nikolai Gogol from Bungo Stray Dogs, who I actually relate to a lot. I’m not going to do a whole character analysis but he’s a really interesting character that’s definitely BPD coded.
