@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 7 күн бұрын
@@2fast65 I moved up to a semi back in 2019. Are there long term people doing hotshot? Yeah… but a lot of their success is based on their location and ability to network and be fair in pricing with their customers. I live in South Florida. The trucking industry is special down here. We don’t have factories, or manufacturing anything. Yeah we have small warehouses and companies a lot of that shipping is so small scale it’s not profitable to us, and there are sooooooo many drivers down here that there’s always someone who will move it for almost free, so my area is tough. But my friends in NC, KY, IN, IL, OH etc… they do ok with their business because there’s factories and larger manufacturing. There’s also less people in rural areas which means less drivers and competition. Which means smaller tight knit communities where they can be on the call list for companies needing items shipped. Location is a big part of hotshot success which is why most people drive semis and live on the road most of the time.

@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired Ай бұрын
@@WINCHELLLOCKLEAR thanks for the support! No we didn’t go with air for suspension. With the 5th wheel already set, it seemed like wasted money at the time to change the springs especially on a brand new truck. Maybe 150k+ miles down the road, that would be a different story.

6.7 longbed here, with a 55 gallon fuel tank that saves TONS of space and time hauling A 40ft dry toy hauler, i10, i40, AZ to CA. I go hungry before the truck does, and highly recommend it. My flatbed has space underneath above the driveline for 4 golf cart batteries wired up to alternator (12v dashboard mini solar/cig outlet) with ONE WAY Charge, 80amp breaker to solar batteries. Im welding up a modular Insulated sleeper box and using the trucks AC/Heat through the open windows so I don't need a separate generator someone could steal. The back half of the truck is all 21' max inside bed height for spare trailer tires and parts. Rear airbags makes the difference in stability in these trucks. Death wobble happens under no load. LOVE THESE BEASTS!!!

If you came to see the sleeper, get past a lot of the waffle and get almost to the end. A lot of this is flex on this incredible truck but there is some good info. Sleeper is @16.17 You can tell it's flex by the way it's presented and the waffle in between. Like I said, incredible truck though, superb rig. Sleeper is at the end, which I suspect is the whole reason you came here LOL.

Cab Chassis, I do think it's funny to hear it called Cab Chassis when the term is Chassis Cab, That said. You have an epic truck brother and you ARE an inspiration to the rest of us. Be safe on the road out there brother. The reason they are called Chassis Cab is because it's just a chassis with a cab on it. Not a cab with a chassis on it.

Do you idle your truck all night while sleeping? Do you let your cooler run all night if your truck is turned off?
@DreamInspired
@DreamInspired 5 ай бұрын
@@OleGradyRay if it’s too hot out mid 80+ at night, I find a decent low cost hotel. Usually 1 with a free breakfast and gym. If it’s mid 60s and lower, no need to run the truck cause it’s cool enough. In between them temps, I run it. Only leave the cool plugged in while running cause it will kill the battery fast. Wasn’t a big fan of the plug in cooler for a hotshot but in a semi with 4 batteries, it’s not so bad

@@Happ1971 dude I was a big fan. A big pricey for everything involved and looking back, I don’t know if the investment was my best choice… But as far as my satisfaction with what I got, yeah very satisfied with the sleeper, the generator, the ac, the air ride 5th wheel I had installed. The sleeper was very spacious and the under bed storage was a huge plus! Don’t know what he’s doing them for today but another route which is probably a lot cheaper would be a coffin sleeper off a KW or Pete if you want to spend the time on a project for yourself to do.
