Maybe those vertex groups can be done a little faster but the basic technique probably remains the same. Honestly, I also did not explore it further recently.

use embergen :P. Smoke sims are so slow and is a painfull process to get exactly what ypu want+ its not real time, its lagging too much to see the physics properly. Also when you add more detail to your smoke, the output changes heavily

Yes, you're correct on both the points. The slow baking is not a big problem though, the beauty of a well designed smoke is worth the wait I'd say, it looks so nice 😊

I think I missed the reason why using Google Colab is an improvement over baking locally? Is there a listed specification for the Colab machine(s) that would somehow be faster than an average PC/laptop?

Depends on the spec of the laptop. It may be faster on colab but I guess that is not the primary reason. For some machines with limited RAM it may be impossible to bake a physics simulation - like you may not be able to bake fluid physics with domain resolution 250 etc. It will crash the machine. And whatever time it takes to bake, the machine is completely taken up by Blender, it does not respond to other software. Baking on colab can solve these issues. Colab may not be faster as such, like for my case it is the same speed on my machine and on colab. But I can't use a very high domain resolution on my machine.

I am trying to animate a floating plastic chair on the ocean, but when I chose the Vertex group - Group I made, the chair turns on the left side, stuck on X row and floats in the air.... Idk what am I doing wrong, I can not rotate it to make it correct...

Please check the topology of the chair. Are there more vertices from the left side in your vertex group? Something is giving it more weight on the left. If you can send your blend file to [email protected] we can investigate and suggest on this.

This often happens due to insufficient RAM. Blender fluid baking takes HUGE amount of RAM. You can either reduce the number of frames or the domain resolution (maybe both) to be within limits, based on your machine spec.

Glad you liked our tutorials. You can assign some specific colors to some of your instances, but if you want a specific instance to have a specific color, it is not possible using geo nodes - you must convert the instances into actual mesh objects and then assign suitable materials. On the other hand, if you are happy to just go with "some" instances be red, "some" instanced be blue etc as decided by the system, you can add those many colors in the material list of the base object and have the system pick up some color from there. So it depends on your goal. Please check this tutorial 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3PLXmmbh5apbpI Don't worry about the word "Random" in the title, it says Random material from your material list. It means, you add some materials with specific colors, the system will assign those colors randomly on your instances. We can do that much with geo nodes.

Are you getting the correct render output in Eevee? If that is the case, if you are getting this problem only in Cycles, please send your blend file to us ([email protected]), we'll check your file and get back to you. It may be because of some settings in your Cycles render.

You can safely ignore that upgrade warning. Your current pip is good enough to install any package. So ignore that msg and focus on the actual installation of librosa.... if THAT fails then it is a problem. I guess in your case it successfully installed librosa bcoz the upgrade msg comes only after the installation.
