Great video, but it's like "B+" level. To understand your ex, one needs a text book to learn basic grammar. Then immersion (France/Canada, etc.). I've studied text/podcasts/translation apps, etc. 3 yrs ago, I wouldn't know the mistakes/corrections. Requires study/listen/immersion to master French, hardest Latin based language.

@@ClearlyFrench I do understand about 90% of your lesson, but it required a lot of work to advance. Immersion and/or speech, the only missing part in my learning process.

I'm glad you did this one. In particular concerning the nasal vowels, it's been my observation that the easiest nasal sound for English speakers is the "an" sound. Listen to how they pronounce "Macron". It almost always sounds as if spelled "Macran". They can't quite get to the "on" sound.

In your example of the imperfect, you began by identifying a period, "Quand j'étais jeune". But if I want to use it to say someone used to be this or that, or used to do this or that, is it necessary to name a period? For instance, "That man used to smoke a lot", could I say simply "Cet homme fumait beaucoup", without a time reference?
@ClearlyFrench
@ClearlyFrench 2 күн бұрын
@@Utoobeedoo yes, of course. I just gave a time reference to make it easier to identify here.
