I feel the boy named crow is Kafka’s altered ego or imaginary or fantasy to guidance!!! This book is very fluid difficult to maintain track. But what I like about in between the Surreal quotes given my Murakami about perspective of existential issues or crisis. Few things about the book is out rightly BIZZARE. The theory between Saeki and Kafka is such a weird thing to me. Couldn’t digest it. The character Oshima is very beautifully portrayed by the writer. Nakata is my favourite. I love those two soldiers who mentioned how they don’t like wars even they are soldiers themselves. The existential plot of this book is awesome. Though I have many complaints. Like what’s the point of the flute that made up of cat’s souls? The second half of the book and the use of metaphors, and Forest as metaphor of labyrinth and life is quite surreal. At some point this makes you bang your head in a wall and made no sense at all. But yeah as far as philosophically this book creates an impact. This is my second book of Murakami and I am looking forward to read others as well.

I think that the crow represents the superego of kafka. Retelling him about what he should be based on, what I think is, his parents morals. I also believe there is an "it", although not characterized in the same way. The it kind of shows during his dreams and agression. Then when he wakes up the superego tells him how wrong his it is.
