I use electrum as a magic hack. It has a secret magical attribute. That attribute being that it can be used as a replacement to any material spell component at half price; so a spell that requires a diamond worth 1,000 gold pieces, can be cast with 500 gold pieces of electrum. The simply made alloy is made from a specific mixture of copper, silver, and gold, and it is made by magical means (derivative variant of the mending cantrip) There is also fake electrum (still worth it's metal weight) It is fabricated through mundane smelting, forging, and minting; but it's easily discerned as false with a detect magic spell, as it will reveal that it is mundane. Real true electrum, is crafted as I said with a little known and closely guarded derivative of the mending spell cast in a ritual format, the ritual looking identical to mundane smelting, forging, and minting processes other than the verbal component of a song with no words (a whistling bardic spell of item creation). In one of my games, I even took it farther and with a proper identification spell you could figure out which school of magic that type of electrum was bound to. And if you used it to cast magic of that school it granted a 75% discount on material component GP cost, and only a 25% discount on spells cast outside it's given school. Admittedly that got a little complicated though with the mixing and matching, it would be a bit much for most games; but those players dug it a lot.

gotta disagree with a lot of these placements. The second campaign i ever ran while being a new DM was tomb of annihilation and it is up there in S tier with strahd, and at worst A tier below strahd. Also icewind dale is amazing with just a bit of DM work and deserves A tier

Isnt the Tarrasque the same thing as a higher vampire from the witcher? You can "kill" them but only one of their own can give them a true death. So Tiamat will face off against the Tarrasque again and again and again. While the Tarrasque only need one win.

Everyone is a nice alternative to the vanilla Forgotten Realms, as for Baldurs Gate - I would run the Baldurs Gaye from the DMS Guild based on the cRPG, yet your right the section in Avernus is a bit lame.

How does this play lets say if your party delt with Tiamat and Arkhan in Avernus? If they thwart Arkhan or work with him and leave Avernus, could Waterdeep bring them in as Experts? Is the challenge ratings even comparable?

Or you could die if you go up eith your friend to talk to the Blue Dragon and don't speak draconian and that friend then back sasses the dragon but you don't know you're in danger cuz you don't speak draconic. Then the dragon uses their electric breath and you both die even if your character passes the save

Hi everyone I need sum DICE ADVISE the TLDR is basically how many of each kind of dice do you need for dnd? Some one told me I need 2 of each dice from D4 to d20 aka two D4s two d6s two d8s two 2xd10s two d12s two d20s but I see on line there are also sets with d24 d30 d60 do I need them as well?? I've also seen on a YouToube video they some times you need to role 3 8Ds at ones so do I need 3 of them? I'm not interested in "collecting" decorative collars or glow in the dark metal/exotic material or otherwise fancy dice. I just want to functionally have a full set of dice with no more or less then is necessary to play DnD even at high levels of play.

Bare minimum to start is 1 of each. 1d4 1d6 1d8 1d10 1d12 & 1d20. After that, I'd get one more d20 for rolling advantage & disadvantage as you'll need 2d20s for those rolls. After that, as you're character levels up, you'll find yourself rolling certain dice more often than others and more times depending on what class/character you play. For example, if your character swings a great sword, those deal 2d6 damage, so if you only have 1d6, you be rolling that twice. If you have two of the same die, you can roll them both at the same time for the sword and keep things faster and easier for you. Hope that helps

Personally CoS is so overhyped that I got fooled into running it as my 2nd campaign. We finished it, but I am still recovering from the burnout months later. I could talk for over 1 hour about all the issues I have with the book, not the setting or the main villain. The book wasn't a great help to me in running the campaign. It was pretty bad at that.

That’s crazy to me because when I finished running it, I wanted to immediately run it again with the same group just to see what new card readings they got for a new spin on the adventure. Shame you felt that way about it, I still think it’s a fantastic campaign.

@WinglessValkyrie Cheers for the reply. I can write a bit more to explain. My issue was more with implementing hints for the different cards, I felt left alone. I could not find great ways to fx. give a hint to the top of a guard tower in Tolenka Pass. What I missed in the book was overall guidance, and tools. Fx. how, where, when could Strahd meet the characters, test the characters or even be a menace to the characters. I needed more ideas on how the different factions reacts to different things the players do. How does Strahd reacts to the party getting rid of one of the hags? I didn't need them to write something for every possible event, but I felt most info was about the past. It felt more like a lore book than a guide book. Several areas like Agynvostholt, Werewolf den and Berez was hard to link to the adventure. I think the pages could be used for something better. Amber Temple felt very confusing to the players. Lastly, Ravenloft was a pain to run. Why isometric layout when the rest used top down. The castle was confusing to both me and the players. It's a cool setting I just failed to deliver it in a good way. It's very overwhelming. So overall I feel like 40-50 pages could be cut without missing much. I would have loved to see 20 pages on Strahd, 10 on tools (fx. travel time between areas), and much more. I know many people love this book, I love the setting and the villain, but just think the adventure book didn't help me run it that well. Thank you for reading if you got this far. 😁 Edit: I just remembered that DoIP had a similar problem, it just had a table of where Cryovain might be that day. No guidance on why. We joked DoIP should have been called Anchorites of Neverwinter Wood. 😂

@@pallenda Ahh ok, I see where you are coming from and absolutely agree that there should have been more written about how Strahd reacts to certain character moments & actions. I did have one player that didn't like the adventure as much as the others because they didn't like the sandbox nature to it and I can see other players/DM's also not likely that over a streamlined narrative. Thank you for sharing! It's nice to read on different perspectives.

I'm pretty good friends with my DM and own a resin printer and we both paint minis. He occasionally will ask if I have a model or will send me one to print out for our games. So I never know when, but eventually these things will pop up in our campaign. A couple weeks ago he asked me to print a tarrasque....

I searched for these kind of videos because I don't see a place in D&D where you introduce a character as "non-binary" :D as if people before WOKE shit entered a room and first thing they said "Hello everyone, I'm Gloria Prettybottom, lesbian vegan atheist".. no one cares.. If it wasn't for that cast I grew attached for over 9 years, I'd feel the same way as I do for gaming world - go woke, go broke - and would never touch any of their products of which I have quite many.. just feeling disappointed a bit with the business side of it now..
