Michael Burnham has this intense I-won’t-blink look that is frankly unsettling. It looks beyond fake and I don’t understand what it achieves. Her entire demeanour comes off as over-the-top intense. Sorry, but it’s terrible and sad.

In these clips, she's really desperately trying to be threatening, mean, dangerous. But she comes off as just a fussy old person resisting the very and only things that can save her. Claws out, only her nails have been clipped.

I liked the fact that Vance didn't follow the usual trope of being an evil admiral. He was gruff and stand offish at first but ended up warming up and in a way becoming part of the Discovery crew in some respect.

That first viewing of Spock should’ve been alone. Later while she was viewing more records he could’ve walked in, doing some unnoticed eavesdropping, and gave the line of “chronic overachievers” to make his presence known.
