While this is often exaggerated for effect the idea is to strike just hard enough to disrupt the signals to the brain causing the individual to pass out temporarily. In the neck there are two areas located side by side. The Vagus nerve and a carotid artery. The idea is by striking or pinching this artery you disrupt blood flow to the brain temporarily causing the person to fall unconscious. However, the Vagus nerve can be easily struck. This nerve if disrupted will disrupt autonomic systems such as breathing and heart rate.

This is extra wholesome when you realize that Doomguy doesn’t sleep, the guy spent actual eons in hell killing demons without stopping to sleep, eat, or drink.

I love how, despite using a gun, he's showing pretty good trigger discipline. We can see the mag on the couch, suggesting it's unloaded, and the slide is stuck back, meaning that it's empty. Yet, even then, he keeps his finger off the trigger the whole time. He misses points for pointing it at Gloria at the end, but is anyone gonna tell Doom Slayer that he's not allowed to do that?
