will it be kinda Cool to have a key when you press or a setting that you can turn on or off that switch from your Rasterized Rendering Pipeline to a Ray Traced(aka Path Tracing) Pipeline ?, also i don't think the CPU can handle all of this maybe you will want to switch to a Graphics API Later on , If you are interested take a look at Monte Carlo and Quasi Monte Carlo Methods, if you seen this comment and you are interested good luck with the Math and Physics and worst of all the Implementation!

Using unity isn't a shortcut, you don't just place down a cube and make Minecraft, you still have to do all of the coding from scratch, in fact B3agz channel has an entire tutorial series on how to do it in Unity (it's not the only way to do it but it works) and even shows you how to do all the face culling and chunk building so it's fast and optimized.

I feel as though he wasn't being very serious in that statement obviously, working with a game engine still takes a lot of effort, it's simply a big convenience when you compare it to writing the game without a dedicated engine, which is where a lot of the challenge in this approach comes from (that the quoted 'shortcuts' do not provide)

I got really happy when hearing that you did this retro style by making cpu based rendering rather than using a graphics api with a graphics card. I found out SDL was used here just for creating windows and getting input(I think), the rendering you made from scratch with the cpu only.
