Awesome job. Bypassing the auto works is great because it’s a nightmare to take apart. As long as you oil the pivots you should be good to go

Hello I need your help. I am repairing the same watch as you in the video that belonged to my grandfather. Could you tell me where the parts you bought came from? Thank you so much
@vintagewatchtinkerer
@vintagewatchtinkerer 20 күн бұрын
I use Ebay to find parts. The caliber 1250 is based on the ESA 9162. They are almost identical, only the base plate finish is different. So most parts of ESA 9162 can be used for the Omega.

You can probably replace that module with a more modern ETA module. (955 series?)

@@vintagewatchtinkerer It's a very odd calibre. I've also noticed when I hack it to set the time, I need to advance the time about 1 minute because it takes 1 minute for it to start moving the minute hand. I've had three of these Tag Heuer calibre 185 movement watches and they all behaved in the same manner. Maybe the original mechaquartz movement.
@mtbbiker6401
@mtbbiker6401 19 күн бұрын
@@vintagewatchtinkerer Oh yes, I didn't think about that. Calibre 185 spec sheet lists ETA 555.232 with 1/2 second impulse so you would need very specific module replacement.

@@samnova450 should definitely use braking grease on the barrel wall for an automatic mainspring. I recommend Kluber P125, it allows the mainspring to slip controllably and creates greater amplitude by not slipping too much. Much better power reserve with it too.

@@vintagewatchtinkerer I see a lot differing opinions on cal 1012. My examples are Cosmic 2000. I had difficulties finding a watchman to service them due to the odd case. I’ve learned that 1012 was discontinued in 1984. I got them back, and my obsession is sec/day running rate. They are both gaining around 1”/day. My Rolex 1570 has been running less than 2” per day for 12 yrs since last serving. However on the blogs so many seem to think 4-6”/day is ‘really good’. Love your channel. I’ve been binging on vintage watch rebuilds.

Thanks for sharing, great job! I have a 2892 chronograph that doesn’t reset to 12 and lost its hacking function. And when I change the time when the chronograph is running, the hour sub dial moves along. Looks kinda funny. I was wondering how much would it cost to service a movement like that since it is similar to what you worked on?

Hi, I don't understand why you didn't transfer it to the original base and just mount another one. It's not the original Omega anymore, it's a foldable. I personally take the parts and always assemble them as they should be, i.e. in the original Longines, Zenith xl and Omega
@vintagewatchtinkerer
@vintagewatchtinkerer 20 күн бұрын
That's true, but actually, I had some concerns about using the original plate because I saw some unusual damage on the plate. After posting the video, I bought another Omega plate and assembled a working "Omega" movement for the watch. I still have the original plate so I can replace it later if needed.

I will have to take mine apart to check, but I believe it is because the click acts on the teeth at the bottom of the barrel, rather than on the top like most swiss watches, the mainspring direction is counter clockwise, like most Japanese watches. Thanks for this video. Not much on the disassembly of the f690 out there and I found yours useful. I just did a full strip down, and found that the tiny screws in the top of the auto wide cover plate were very small and fragile. A few of them stripped the slots, so you are fortunate that you did not have to go there. The mainspring I removed was 1.45x.11x340, but the original mainspring according to the technical guide is 1.45x.1075x320. I ordered a 320 length .11 thickness is that is the closest that my supplier had.

My power reserve dropped to 1 hour. Under warranty, Seiko took a few months to rectify. Now it's 9 to 13 hours. I saw it listed as 41 hours. Is that correct?
@vintagewatchtinkerer
@vintagewatchtinkerer 20 күн бұрын
Yes, if the mainspring is fully wound, it will run for at least 24 hours. 7s26 has no manual winding system, so you'll need to wear a whole day to wind the main spring fully.
