Seiko 5 7S26-3040 Maintenance

This time, we will work on a popular Seiko movement, 7S26. No dramas. I made some amateur mistakes though.
This is an entry-level automatic watch. Actually, it is solid and something more than the price. It has no manual winding system, but it won't be a problem as an everyday watch. Also, it will be an excellent entry-point movement for watch restoration practice. Seiko provides a comprehensive technical guide for this movement. Many professional watchmakers show how-to on KZbin. Even if we fail catastrophically, we can buy a replacement for less than $50.

The swap is a very popular movement upgrade with these watches. It won't be so difficult.

me vendían un seiko 5 similar pero vi que tenia grabado en el cristal el logo de Seiko y me pareció extraño pues no lo había visto en ningun modelo , crei que era falso😢

The original Seiko glass has the logo.

Why are some gears plastic?

I'm sure price is the factor. They are parts of the calendar mechanism. They don't need to handle significant forces and they don't affect the watch's accuracy at all so using plastic parts will be reasonable choice.

Do you plan to buy a time grapher?

No, so far. Currently I use a smartphone app for quick checks and Tg (a PC timegrapher app) for detailed inspection.

I am planning to get a seiko5 and I have used gshock for 8 years , how is sekio 5 durability over the years

Since it is a mechanical watch, it won't be durable compare to G-Shock. Also, unlike the G-Shock, regular maintenance is required.
