I find the second stop/skip mechanism pretty useful and use it on my 5856 KQ. It's accurate enough (6 seconds fast/month) that adjusting it a second or two every once in a while keeps it running spot on without needing to stop the watch.

Wow, thank you for telling me about the usage. I adjusted it right away. My one is 10 seconds late/month, worse than yours but enough for me :)

I can normally keep up with reassembly with Swiss movement but this was so alien to me. Beautiful movement though.

What weight of oil/grease do you use?
@vintagewatchtinkerer4 ай бұрын
I use Seiko AO-2, which is a light-viscosity oil. It is a Moebius 9010 alternative.

Is it me or are these gears in train of wheels much smaller than in a 'normal' mechanical watch?
@Nghdsjd Жыл бұрын
Quartz watches usually have smaller wheels, the stepper motor has much less torque than a mainspring.

Yeah, they are much smaller than normal mechanical gents' watch parts but larger than ladies watch parts.

What was the problem? Just dirt/oxidation?

Old oil/grease probably jammed the pivots and jewels.
