@fishnsage11 күн бұрын
@@stefoboss998 You have to be really careful not to over fill it with line because it has a tendency to have wind knots when casting. If there is a slight breeze or the lure is too light. It has a tendency to tangle. I always carry something pointy to untangle it just in case. Otherwise, mechanically it runs like a champ and is still silky smooth.

A short Carolina rig did the trick. 30 lbs leader with 1 ounce egg sinker and a circle hook was working. Surface iron was working for me, as you can see. I saw a white buck tail work as well. We then went deep water rockcod fishing 500ft so be prepared with a double hook dropper and 10-12 oz leads or glow in the dark heavy white jigs. Thanks for watching!

Very nice - I’m also a UL fisherman who chases jacks/trevallies (but in Hawaii) and like you I do throw sizeable hardbody lures (up to 95mm) for them with my 1k size setups. Will be spending a lot of time in Mexico for random reasons - and I don’t really know how to fish on sandy beaches in the surf. What is your setup like and what lures work? Also, do you need a beefier ultralight rod/line to drag them out of the surf once they’re beat? I usually fish with delicate rods JDM rods using 5lb braid with very fast action rods but not sure if I’ll need to go with slower and stouter rods or bigger line for this. Are there things to catch with very small lures?
@fishnsage6 ай бұрын
@@kawikachee929 Thanks for watching! I was just messing around when I hooked a jack on a Lucky Craft 110. That bait is just a little heavy but it worked great! All my tackle is in the description. I also have a video on the reel and rod combo. If you’re using smaller lures, it probably would be harder to cast the distance. I’ve caught trout on the same rod and on jigs as light as 3/16 oz. but I could barely cast them.

@@BabyBitchBlue Lucky you! Sounds like an awesome set up. I never fished that side of the beach but looking at the map, the jetty to the south looks extremely fishy. Either side would be good. maps.app.goo.gl/WpHtfjYmRJ8Yc9666?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy It looks like a long walk, so you might have to wake up early for the morning bite. Maybe a subsurface sinking plug would work? You’re probably looking at jacks, mangrove snappers, or needle fish. If you have a car, the north side of Rio Amerca is good, but it’s a bit tricky to get to. It all depends on how mobile you are. Stay safe especially on the rocks, and good luck, you’ll have a blast!

It should be fine. Maybe even a 2500. I always thought a 1000 was a bit small. If you want to make double sure, bring the rod into the shop and try it out. I think a larger arbor would cast better.
