While not 28mm, Prince August has a lovely selection of molds at 25mm. These are for those who wish to cast their own. The Wellington, Napoleon and Blucher on horseback are fantastic and can be bought cast and primed. Nice selection in the video.

The prince August figures are fantastic and i own most of the Napoleonic ranges, the 3 Austerlitz molds they do are larger, closer to warlord games and are very good

There are some hidden gems in the North Star ranges under Muskets and Tomahawks. Currently they have Peninsular War, Retreat from Moscow, and War of 1812. Not as complete as the other companies you mentioned, but could supply some useful additions and variety. 🙂

Does anyone pay any attention to old school 25mm Minifigs anymore? Love the figures and it's like they've been relegated to the dust bins of collector's back shelves.
@merlin40845 ай бұрын
Mostly because they don't scale with anything modern. They may be 25mm, but they are 25mm in the sense that 1/72 scale is 25mm (for some reason people call it 20mm, but it's actually true 25mm).
@steveseaman77944 ай бұрын
Sadly that certainly seems to be the case, I just have my British and French armies of the Waterloo period made up of Minifigs and Hinton Hunt in boxes, although shortly to be set up in a display cabinet as regrettably wargaming is not a thing where I live in the Dominican Republic.

I'm hoping to put together a chart, sort of green, mix in units, amber, mix in army, but keep distinct units and red, nah, they'll look daft
@TwisstedSage5 ай бұрын
Can't really argue with any of these judgements, mostly cause so many are outside my price range, or are simply so rare I have no means to compare them. I don't think I've ever seen an "Eagle" miniature except on line and then there's certainly no way to compare. I'm also very permissive when it comes to mixing in different sizes to the same unit, especially large units like Swiss or other Renaissance blocks. I just figure it adds to the animation of the unit if there's not to many of the same pose, next to a whole bunch of one other larger or smaller figures. I've got some award winning pike blocks that have bunches of Perry lads, mixed in with Old Glory and even a good dollop of beautiful but wee Ral Partha & Mirliton . I can get some Front Rank from a secondary retail site and its hard to move past them, even though they're still quite pricey but one of these days I'm bound to pop for the 42 pounds for a reinforcement of 24 figures of their French lights. Not bad but still on the high side when you add in the shipping, even inside the US. I'd just as soon pop for some Perry's from their plant cause in comparison the excess is just pennies. Did you check out those Mameluke Guard from Brigade Games ? Thanks for the eye candy. Hugs

Obviously your rules mate but I can’t believe you’re leaving out the Perry metals as they do plastics….. they have continued adding both to their ranges and are always quality. I wouldn’t have Eagle in there, yes a good range but as you said very small and I have found that the castings can be very variable. Foundry are lovely but as you said very small and also expensive although they do their end of year sale which can help if you save up your orders. For me: Perry; Piano; Offensive; Elite; Front Rank. Honourable mention to North Star who do some lovely minis

Foundry...... 8 miniatures for £12, so £1.50 each, yet models at £1.60 are 'inexpensive'? The main Napolionic range, covering the Revolution through to Waterloo is scultped by the Perrys, but the excellent, often overlooked, peninsular range (and some other early war) sculpted by Michael Brown is available through their 'Casting Room' offshoot.
@merlin40845 ай бұрын
I have to correct you on a lot of what you've said about using Eagle with Minifigs. Minifigs is true 25mm. As in 1/72 scale. Everyone believes 1:72 scale is 20mm, but when you do the math its actually 25mm (average height of men = 1760mm, 1760 / 72 = 24.4). If you wanted to go GW about it, Minifigs are more Heroic 1:72 scale by today's standards. Eagle, and I assume Foundry, are more true 28mm, or 1:64 (1760 / 64 = 27.5mm). So, you really cannot mix these with Minifigs at all. What Perry, Victrix and Warlord are making is 32mm scale minis (1760 / 56 = 31.4mm). I think they call them 28mm because that's the most recognizable brand of scale and because they measure to the eyes they can technically claim they are 28mm scale (after all, take 150mm (roughly rounded up measurement from my eyes to the top of my head) off 1760mm and do the calculation all over again and you get a result of 28.75mm). You'll have a much easier time mixing Eagle and Foundry into these than to mix them with Minifigs, and you've seen most of my Swedes with Eagle officers mixed with Perry line infantry plastics. It's noticeable, but its not as bad as you make it out, and with some clever basing you can make sure no one really notices.

The Murawski's and Black Hussars, Front Rank are the top sculpts . Perrys have too many worms so drop down . Warlord metal additions to packs are let down by the shittiest horses legs. Brigade games the old Victrix range are in United Dumb states and cost too much to post. Wargames foundry have a massive range but most are 25mm. There was Avanpost who are tops but I believe he was Russian

Foundry cavalry are even worse than their infantry inasmuch as they look like midgets riding ponies. Beautifully detailed to be sure but just no longer compatible. I think their proportions are stunted looking. I also can't fathom their prices considering the age and pose limitations. I refuse to buy them these days but used to mix their officer packs with my Elite Miniatures rank and file.
