I chuckled when you referred to the U.S. flag as having “Stars and Bars”, as that is what the Confederate flag was called. The U.S. flag is normally called the “Stars and Stripes”. Lol

@@NapoleonicWargaming to be fair, I’m pretty sure that unlike most blackpowder armies, you can collect War of 1812 in 1/1 scale lmao. I doubt we’ll ever get plastic, but Brigade Games has a few. Glengarry Light Infantry Fencibles is basically worse, Scottish 95th rifles with brown besses and colours. As in, they basically straight up wear 95th rifles kit. Canadian militia and Fencibles did a lot of cosplay lmao. I think one unit was wearing American uniforms at one point. Compared to how…organized European warfare was, it was an absolute shitshow over here.

@JSteplykАй бұрын
I can never get too many 95th Rifles, but you can still plausibly paint them up as US Rifle Regiments in bottle green uniforms or gray coatees. The 1803 rifle was just a few inches longer than the Baker; the 1803 is halfstock, unlike the full-stock Baker, but you can fix that with paint.

I appreciate you giving us Americans some Napoleonic coverage! One correction to make however, is that AWI militia are way too outdated to use for 1812. Tricorns were completely out of style. I haven’t looked to see what’s out there yet, but something like some Alamo defenders would work much better.

For rifle men the American militia in buck skins painted green with yellow trim with the shako and with the rifle would work for the two US rifle regiments and US forces didn't carry national colors into battle they carried the blue national seal colors and regimental colors into the field.

If you are ever close to Michigan on your next visit to the United States, please send me a message and I will be your personal guide at the River Raisin Battlefield Park near Monroe, Michigan. I believe it was the second highest number of British casualties after the Battle of New Orleans during the war. And of course, the worst casualty count for the Americans, hence, the "River Raisin Massacre." "Remember the Raisin" was the battle cry that led to the American victory at the Battle of the Thames the following year, where the famous Tecumseh was killed. Best Regards,

You couldn't really use American Revolution flags generally because the number of states (and there fir stars on the flag) has increased. Also the design by 1812 had changed from the stars in a circle to alternating lines

@NapoleonicWargaming it was a little over 10 years following the war of 1812. Similar technologies to the period. The Mexican army was formed pretty much the same as the Spanish since they had their revolution a decade before. The Texans were mostly formed of militias.

Unrelated question but I was watching one of your videos where you mentioned Prussian cavalry was some of the best in Europe. however, in black powder all their cavalry is much weaker than counterparts, do believe that black powder does them a disservice or is it accurate that the best they had were box standard dragoons as per the stat lines 😢

The word exists in the guise of completionist, most associated with video games.
@davidbenton87752 ай бұрын
@theamericancristero7390 I'd suggest a slightly different meaning between the two is possible. Whilst it is possible to take a video game 'to completion', the concept of 'completion' is not one that any wargamer even considers possible for a Army project. Note...you can buy Starter Sets for many forces, but I have yet to see a 'Completion Package' for any wargaming range. 🤣
