SIDI BOU SAID got its name from the name of the righteous saint Bou Said bin Khalaf bin Yahya al-Tamimi al-Baji (1156-1230). One of the most famous landmarks of Sidi Bou Said is the Palace of "Nujma al-Zahra", which was built by the English Count "Erlanger" and was later converted into a museum that displays musical instruments and holds classical and Arabic music concerts. The origins of Sidi Bou Said date back to the time of the Phoenicians who founded the city of Carthage. Mount Sidi Bou Said was then called "Jabal al-Manar" or "Jabal al-Marsa", and this mountain was used to monitor and fortify Carthage. It was officially named "Sidi Bou Said" when a municipality was established in this place in 1893. The Tunisian town of Sidi Bou Said is the third most beautiful town in the world according to "Time Out" magazine and its website specializing in international statistics, and it was the only Arab and African town included in this important classification. The German town of Rothenburg came in first place, while the Indonesian town of Wai Rebo, located on the island of Flores, came in second place. We note that "the Greek Santorini wanted decades ago in 1967 to imitate Sidi Bou Said by painting its buildings white and its doors and windows blue, and the Greek authorities asked their Tunisian counterparts for permission to do so and were granted permission. However, some people in the region imitate Sidi Bou Said without permission in order to rob its tourists, visitors and lovers, but the imitation came distorted and did not live up to the magic of Sidi Bou Said and its global influence. Among the most prominent writers, poets and historians who immortalized the memory of Sidi Bou Said are George Duhamel, Andre Gide, Charles Lallement, Mounier, Jacques Raffault, Max Paul Fouchet and others. Sidi Bou Said was visited by leaders, chiefs, presidents and kings from various countries of the world who heard about it and its widespread fame and insisted on visiting Tunisia to see it to enjoy its beauty, charm and pure air. The late King of Pop Michael Jackson visited Sidi Bou Said on the occasion of his historic concert in Tunisia in 1997, and was amazed by it

We should travel together. ! Oh to have that life. With one person you enjoy. I solo travel too. Go together and have our own bubble! 🙌 I’m a good protector with others. Would love that in return one day. Would be unstoppable and always kind. Just makes it better when things go wrong or aren’t welcoming etc as you say. And facts depends on what you are looking for or where you end up I know exactly what you mean tho. Happened to me in Thailand I got ripped off central. Suppose to be a Mecca for cheapness and I paid the same food prices as I was paying in Canada and things.

Thank you for the overview. I'm Croatian, but I never went to Zrče. I prefer beaches with the least amount of people and noise possible 😁 and with natural shade. Just a tip... It's actually very easy to pronounce Croatian. Adding a sign above a letter is like putting an "h" behind a letter in English: č, ć = ch š = sh ž = zh (as in dr. Zhivago) So kuća is kucha (not kuka), and Šimuni is Shimuni (not Simuni).
@MitchellTravels
@MitchellTravels 4 ай бұрын
Wow, I feel like I nailed a few of those there, especially the "ch" sound on the C thing and Shimuni 😓. But yea, Zrce is not for you then unless you want a complete change of pace for once

Tunisian here, I found your channel researching Zakynthos, and I like how sober and laid back this channel is. The script, the narration, the selection of places to go, and the filming, well done ! 05:24 -- You can see the shop owner was surprised by the "God bless you" you said in Tunisian dialect (Baraka Allahou fik), this is what a true local would say. Most tourists just use the classic arabic "shukran" which is not used by the local dialect, or "merci" inherited from the historical french colonial times. 15:00 -- I appreciate the effort put to research authentic folk Tunisian music to play in the background, it is typically played in weddings and other festivities by the locals. Here it is for those asking: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqKrgoN-ppyEaM0 There is still a lot to see in Tunisia, but this was already a treat
