ZZ Top was actually originated in Jefferson County. They couldn’t get airtime on the overly conservative radio there so they made their professional start in Houston. Similar to Janis Joplin who also moved from Port Arthur to the city to find her fame.
@chrisubias71353 ай бұрын
@@laurenganann3457 The band was formed in Houston after Moving Sidewalks disbanded who were also based in Houston. ZZ played their first shows in Beaumont. The band got plenty of airtime from Texan radio stations, but not the rest of US. So yes ZZ formed in Houston and therefore their hometown this why their motto is “That lil’ ole band from Houston, TX”.

Such a blend. Rock and blues and rock and roll. Effortlessly played, superbly choreographed and flawlessly performed. Nothing like it.

Really outstanding. Dusty Hill gets into such a groove in these earlier clips. Bravo

I had the greatest pleasure to see them in concert in San Diego in 1979. You talk about a heck of a concert. I mean they brought it on!

20 years ago I just got paid and was listening to Give me all your lovin on the radio. I stopped at a pawn shop and bought a crappy guitar and I went down the rabbit hole.

Ah, ZZ Top before they discovered sunglasses and formula radio hits. I miss the old ZZ. Those were the days.

For me, ZZ Top was best prior to their Eliminator album. I know that was their biggest seller but biggest doesn't alway mean best. Deguello, Tres Hombres, Tejas, Rio Grande Mud and their half live/half studio album Fandango are where its at.

+Chuck M that's pretty much true with most bands, at their best right before the big mainstream album

+Chuck M They had to evolve or die. Happens to most bands. The Beatles died. The Sex Pistols died. I agree with you but I can't criticise them for changing style. Playing 70s blues rock in the 1980s was almost illegal :-)

+Chuck M French rock critics prefer Tejas and deguello. About "eliminator", i totally agree making ballad in the car (if you know what i mean).
