I just started looking into Trench Crusade, at the urging of a friend who is really into it. I'm leaning toward using Warmachine Trenchers as New Antioch Yeomen. I've always liked their Medieval-meets-WWI look, but had no interest in collecting a Cygnar army.

A couple of months ago I wrapped a short Grim Dark Future Firefight Gang Wars campaign at the local nerd bar. It was dubbed Notcromunda - six hive cities, connected by rail, tunnels, and canals, with a shattered and fallen seventh hive that the Ratmen call home. (The Ratmen Clans are blamed for the fall - but didn't even exist when the catastrophe happened.) The final battle took place in an underground rail yard. The Gangs of New Eden, plus Jackals, Ratmen, and an NPC faction of Dwarf Guilds.

This sounds a lot like something I tried to run for my local group. But much better organized. Do you have any of these rules written down somewhere? I’d love to read over them to better refine the system I was trying build here.

So as of the latest version of the beta rules I've had it pointed out that this is actually invalid as a list, but still a bit of fun anyway

In V1.4 we can only take 1 assassin ability per model, and we cannot duplicate those abilities. What's the new list you're running? :D

Okay this is really weird, but Paul taught me how to play warhammer when I was in Secondary school in Cornwall and he ran a warhammer club there in the late 2000s, I was not expecting to see him on a youtube video like 12 years later when im deciding on wether or not to buy the old world rule book. Hey guys enjoyed the battle report. I appreciated the back ground music, the use of both the fixed camera spot and the pov shots giving us different angles, would appreciated some more mid shots just to make it easier to pick which model is which as they all look a bit samish from the full board shots. Around 33 mins and a few other times the grenade injury roll used its blood marker from shrapnel on its own injury roll which you can't do. The BM from shrapnel isn't applied until after the injury roll. at 42mins one of you do also say "its a shame you can only spend one blood marker at a time", You can! also not sure if you said which rule set you played this on but with 1.4 there is also the blood bath rule which lets you spend the in another way. There are rules for shooting into combat, its in the margin in V1.4, basically its a 50/50 who you hit. For future vids would appreciate the army list in the description along with what version of your on. Thanks guys looking forward to the next one.

Feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. We had some issues with the sound as we were filming in the store next to a main road so not ideal!

It's cool but I'd probably the thunderbolt abilities and try to fit in alchemical and heavy armor. I fell like this list could be cleared in one turn even with cover.

I have found so many games that I have grown to love in the past 8 years and it came from seeing a game in the flesh I had dismissed entirely. I discovered Wild West Exodus at UK games Expo back in 2017 and I was aware of it, but never actually looked into it at all. I had dismissed it as just Cowboys game with some odd elements in it and never read anything more or watched any videos on it. However looking at it in the flesh and the wide variety of factions and themes in it changed everything. Since then I always take the time to watch a play through video and read some of the lore before I decide against a game. I have picked up so many cool games with great backgrounds since like Malifaux, Deadzone, Carnevale, Dystopian Wars and The Drowned Earth to mention the cream of the crop. Like you say no one is saying ditch Games Workshop just have an actual look at some other systems because there are some phenomenal games out there waiting to be discovered.

A load of the lads I play with decided to give Tanks for the Apocalypse a go, really fun game where we each kit bashed a bolt action tank with mad max bits.

AOS was that palate cleanser for me and it was brilliant - it's given me the break needed to finish my custodians and another new love at the same time. Also finding some cool 3d prints has got me excited for other things that feed into my GW projects!

The most overlooked Game of all times. I still love playing it after twenty years.

I’m 72 and have dabbling in miniature war gaming for over30 plus years. Currently I’m into Star Wars games, some GW stuff, War Zone. Some grim dark gaming but TC is frankly a depressing concept to me. But as the world seems to be spiraling into grim dark,especially in AmeriKa,maybe it’s timely after all💀💀🤡

Thinking of trying Trench Crusade but if it was set in the early "enlightenment" period and I just use my D&D figures to get familiarized with the rules. I'll fill lists in with rifleman etc over time of course.

Aesthetic is a big factor for me. Also, the relatively new kind of retro-futuristic-alternative-magic-history genre is a breath of fresh air lately.

Agreed on all points. It’s this mix between a really cool theme with very interesting lore that frankly - would be cool with any type of game, board game, video game, etc - and the ability to scratch a creative itch with kit bashing. At the moment it’s almost a creative challenge: “Here’s the dudes in the rulebook, now go try and make something close to this with scavenged parts, good luck”. When it’s all said and done you get a great sense of accomplishment at the warband you were able to cobble together.

to be honest i think the asthetic is really interesting ive been a huge fan of the style of art, Zdzisław Beksiński is in my opinion the godfather of it. in the last few years ive found ariel perez and more recently Mike Franchina. im hoping to get some games in, but for now im just enjoying kitbashing warbands :)

So, I am potentially in an interesting position to condense some community thoughts on this one because so man folks talk about the game and their feelings about it in the comments of my vids. Many people just really like how grim it is. I know some folks out there seem to worry that it goes too far, or veres into the ridiculous, but stuff like this is inherently ridiculous. You either go all in on that aspect of it or you release an insipid product, I think. A lot of other folks are enjoying that they can basically be involved for very little outlay right now. They can learn the rules, play on Tabletop Simulator, jump into the Discord for chats and figure out of it is the kind of thing with long term appeal. Many folks are not just trying to decide if they game is for them, but also what the odds are of convincing a friend to play with them, afterall. I think it being a skirmish game is huge, not just for model count, but also for sapce. The days of cheap rent in Nottingham are over, and as much as I love Jervis Johnson and Andy Chambers, those big cheap sitting rooms there were renting while working on 40K and Fantasy Battle really fucked the rest of us. lol

I think it harkens back to when 40K was first released basic rules and no control over the minis and conversations it just feels much more liberating

Had 3 games now, all against High Elves, twice with my vampire counts, and once with Empire. The rules lay out struggles due to the sheer amount of rules in this game, in a lot of ways it is clunky. For such a big book, I am surprised that there are only 6 missions, and none of them really encourage players to move forward to get stuck into battle. I think the removal of table quarters giving VP was a bad move. I do like that I can buy 3 books and I have all the rules I need that is nice... but it is GW price. I am still on the fence, in a lot of ways I love ot because itnis Warhammer... but when I play , I usually nose deep into the book, trying to find the rules. It shows that Warhammer is not a casual game. Sure, these things get easier with time, but gaming should be fun first and foremost. Edit to add, also the way list are built is easily open to abuse. Can take what would be Lord level characters in 1,000pts, the minimum needed for core is too low, and also can be 'gamed' to include Special choices. Makes bog standard infantry redundant.
