Could you have skipped lintel and the 2 block work on top of it? What should be the implications if you had skipped lintel and directly had constructed the decking

We could have skipped lintle, but would have still required a beam before thr decking. Usually, the lintle also helps for more stability.

This is a technical question and the answer will vary depending on the where you're building. That is why it is always best to have a qualified engineer on the project.
