Great video William! Been looking specificy for a sharper line against 1d4 2Nf3 as I generally feel comfortable vs 2.c4/2.Nc3/2.Bf4 stuff. What if they don't play 3.Bf4 though, but instead do a setup like 1d4 2Nf3 3e3, do you have any recommendations vs white's turn 3 alternatives?

Hi william, love your gambits. Few people come up with original ideas like this that actually work. Your openings arn't just gimmicky but practical. Bravo! Do you have a lichess study for this? Could you link it to me. Regards,

58:00 Given your emphasis on the plan of running the king to a7, the move has to stop it somehow.

58:00 im so confident ill only need one guess. It’s gotta be Bb5. Preventing Kc6. And blacks king just blocks all the pieces from defending.

Fantastic stuff. The Traxler got me into chess and that eval at the end with the king run is certainly reminiscent of some lines there. You’ve helped me go from hating playing against Londoners to relishing it. Keep it up Gambit Man!

57:50 alright three guesses? O-O-O seems reasonable, lines up with the queen dxe5 seems reasonable, threatens mate, opens the center c4 maybe, try to play c5 to interfere with the plan to move the king to the queenside

dang it must be that this opening is really good and not that I’m bad at chess 😅

Love your videos! Do you have any fun lines against e4 c5 c4? I love playing the Sicilian but whenever they play a maroczy bind I have my most boring and terrible games.

My guesses for the winning move: O-O-O Bb5 c4
@billyfarrington3744 күн бұрын
Bb5 is the best move according to the engine, but Nxe4 also looks extremely dangerous for black.

When will you be publishing a Chessable course with this crazy stuff, William?

You can make your own course for free and add the variations yourself :) I made a video on this on my channel

As far as I know, other than direct one to one coaching,, graif puts up everything on yt so that people can play the lines he likes... Putting it behind a paywall? Nah I don't think he's gonna do it.... Moreover, putting same thing in chessable behind a paywall, but on KZbin for free doesn't make sense. William tries to be as thorough as he possibly can, and doesn't hide anything in KZbin. Also, making a free course on chessable is a big hassle and not worth the time...... Tldr: I don't think he's gonna do that

My one addition to this video would be that "main line" is just what has been considered best given the current opening through rigorous and respected analysis. Or most commonly believed best line for those lacking analysis. Gambits also have a main line which you can study to ensure that your advantage is capitalised upon and not wasted. Eg the froms gambit where you sacrifice pawns for an engine approved advantage

I started by learning the London amd the Caro Kann , and kept getting dragged into poritional games where my opponents knew the position way better than me. I was always really good at puzzles, but none of the positions in puzzles ever appeared in my games. Nor did any of the tactical opportunities. Chess was really frustrating. I knew that I was better than my results were showing. Then I discoverd gambits. Mostly through this channel and I started winning and even when I wasn't winning, I was at least having fun. If you want to be a serious player learn all the positional stuff and gambits. If you're a mere mortal who plays chess for enjoyment, why wouldn't you learn to blast open the position and create oppportunities and tactics.

I will say one thing for sure - you MUST continue doing gambits!! You are VERY good at it, you love doing it and we all love watching ALL of your videos!! Life would be VERY BORING if every site was about positional chess. I have a suggestion - if you can get to 2000 using your gambits then you can start studying more positional/serious chess.

Thanks, I appreciate this discussion. Some gambits are better than others, and yours seem to be very well thought out. I am wondering if I can apply these OTB even in longer games. I think at my level (about 1400 USCF) I can definitely use them. Will keep you updated.

Try the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde approach: for example, against the Queen’s Gambit with 3. Nc3 play the von Henig- Schara Gambit but against 3.Nf3 play the Semi-Tarrasch queen exchange variation for an early endgame
