But i have to find the factors not prime factors!
@LetsDoMath11 күн бұрын
The factors can be found by combing primes. But if your number whose factors you have to find is in the multiplication chart, then the job is much simpler. For examples like that, I have videos on other ways of finding and listing all the factors. It would be best to start there.

Now look at the second vid with repeating primes. That will give you greater confidence to see the thinking a second time. 😉🤗

You’re right. I haven’t put anything new up in a LONG time! Sometimes life happens and we can’t get to everything we want to. But notes like yours make me realise this DOES help people and I should do more. So I will. Thank you @FaithFalomo! 😍🤗

What about 4 sets of fractions such as 7/9 1/3 7/8 1/6?
@LetsDoMath17 күн бұрын
In your example, clearly the smallest amount is 1/6, then 1/3. You could do a comparison of 7/8 and 7/9 by making your new common denominator - 72 and checking the numerators that go with that, then just order appropriately. Sometimes you can easily see which is greatest and smallest. Generally there will be at least 2 fractions that are very close and you need a strategy to demonstrate the correct order with accuracy. 😃

That’s mean. Don’t take it to heart. You have come looking for help and in my thinking, that makes you a GOOD student. One who understands maybe they haven’t got it YET, but will keep on going til they do. Exactly the kind of student who makes teaching all worthwhile. That moment when a student shows they’ve got past the math roadblock is one of the most energizing I’ve ever had as a teacher. So the next step, now that you are feeling more confident, is a good amount of practice and checking your work is right until you feel like ‘I’ve GOT this!’ I ❤️ your perseverance! Never lose this awesomeness that you are showing right now. 😃🤗🥰💕

This method looks great. But I would love if you made a video writing the step by step algorithm you use to combine and multiply the primes. It's a bit confusing.

@LetsDoMath28 күн бұрын
Not to worry. You haven’t given up, which is great. You just haven’t got it… yet. But you will. Can I suggest rewatching, trying to really follow along, and when you think you’ve got it, go again, and this time hit pause and predict the next step. When you’ve got that, I’d like you to take notes - actually work through one on paper. I use coloured pencils to help me identify separate steps in my math, that might help you see the steps too. Plus it lets me jump to a particular note set in my notebook because My brain connects quickly to colour, much more so than scanning page after page in ink of a single colour, or worse, plain pencil. I dislike pencil for notes because it can wear away over time. 🤔😳

Hi! How come your first operation was to check how many times the first two dividends fit into the diviser? Why not only one number, or the whole product instead?
@LetsDoMathАй бұрын
I’m sure you’ve realized after you hit post. We are dividing by 3.7, which becomes 37 when we scale it up. It’s a waste of time to ask how many 37s in 5, but ‘how many 37s in 54?’ Now we’re making sense. That’s why I went straight to the first 2 digits. 😉🤗
