Oh that sucks. But hey I’m a big believer in karma. You were the bigger person. He was a greedy idiot. May he sit on a fountain pen 😆. Your stories are like my mums stories. She could tell me in a sentence but it takes at least 30 minutes. I just enjoy her waffle and know I will miss that one day. We’ve all made mistakes as sellers. All you can do is learn from it and resolve it in a way where you know you did the best from your end.

I wouldn't stress about it to much mate. Just take that one on the chin, and move on with the next victory sale. I have been selling on Ebay for over 20 years and have some good stories to tell. Sometimes buyers will just pick on the littlest things. One thing I have learnt over the years, is to make sure that everything is put into the description, as this covers you when someone starts to complain about something. I also put "Pictures form part of the Description" as this covers anything that I have missed. Anyway I hope Old Mate started playing some better Golf, once he got his new Pen and Batteries 🤣🤣🤣

I work at a thrift store. Everyone gets dibs on stuff, i dont care if its against policy. I look after my volunteers and its the least i can do if they give up theor time becuase they are a big help at the end of the day That was very poor form to confiscate them off customers though. If they wanted it they should have kept it aside properly to begin with (out of view of customers). That was unless you pulled them out of their donation bins they havent sorted yet and they didnt sell it yet because they wanted to examine them properly for pricing rather than being put on the spot

I work at an op shop. Its just one of those things. People can be scumbags and just pull all this nonsense. Theyll knowing go into 2nd hand stores and nitpick every small imperfection on 2nd hand goods and try to ask for discounts over it. Like you said, sometimes its better off to just break it and throw it out. I mean, its not like i get paid commision if i sell it and we get it for free so 🤷♂️

As my dad used to say to me midway through my stories, "In 25 words or less...." - mind you , he was even worse than me! Did you try and counter offer the buyer say $10? That would have more than covered it! Or were you worried the prick would leave bad feedback?

There are a decent number of buyers out to get you if they have 1/2 a chance. Recently a buyer bought 3 small metal items from me (parts of a set), one was clearly cracked in photo, but I didn't put it in written description. I probably saw the crack when taking photos as I focussed in on it, but was just in a trance listing a lot of the same junk and forgot to mention this particular one was cracked. I just refunded that one item and still sent it to him with the others, because I knew it'd ruin my day if the buyer complained about it later. I had another buyer claim something never arrived, I accidentally charged for tracked postage but sent it untracked as it was a cheap $10 item - I was expecting him to complain but instead he just pretended it never arrived. The item was 80% cheaper than all others on ebay, but because he got overcharged $5 on postage he decided to be a pig about it. Sad this stuff is so common you can literally predict it 80% of the time.

You made me laugh out loud remembering a conversation I had with a boss years ago. I was soooooo upset about a crazy request from one of our agents and this guy was always asking for more. When I was finally done complaining to my boss, he asked me if I wanted advice or sympathy. I loved him because he got me. He didn't cut me off or ask me to get to the point. He always treated me with dignity and patience. Great mentor. So I told him I wanted advice. Without any hesitation he said "Don''t get mad. Get better at saying no." I just stared at him and he smiled because he knew I got it. I tell long stories too because I'm a writer. I'm also great at saying no. Really easy for me. I save emotions for my stories. Thank you to my old boss Phil at Heritage Real Estate in Oakland California. ❤

I’m on a disability pension and I do look in the op shops and on market place for things for myself so I’m on a budget. Vinnies and Salvos are pricing themselves out of business in my opinion. I’m wanting to supplement my pension so I’m looking for things to resell too so I’m also learning from your videos too. Thank you for that.

they need to get this sorted though, i stopped using ebay a few years ago because of a seller who sold me a scooter saying it was a particular model they just sent me a knock off with half the battery capacity and motor size but looked exactly the same, i could hook up my computer to the onboard chip and prove it but ebay wouldn't take a bar of it it took like 3 months of go betweens from the seller and ebay support giving me excuses ranging from the refund was approved... to it being already sent to me and received once i said i was going to the ACCC though, instantly got a refund within an hour ebay is just a terrible service in general these days, the guarantees they claim to provide don't do anything for seller, or buyer... its all BS, their strategy is just to hold onto money as long as they can to get interest i reckon

My biggest mistake was selling a roll of coins for $100 cheaper than intended, hit a 1 instead of 2 when setting price. Sold immediately and realised as soon as I got the notification, contacted the buyer immediately asking for a mutual cancellation but no dice, they offered to pay half the difference on receipt, although I knew that wasn’t going to happen, I shipped as negative eBay feedback is such a problem hovering over my head, of course once received the buyer ghosted, touring around and selling it on for more than my intended price.

That’s you and how you picture yourself, it’s so easy to make value judgements, when we make value judgements we always put ourselves as the hero of the story, “if that was me I’d have it all worked out and I’d do it this way …” we all have different brains and ways of being. I appreciate him showing his humanity and vulnerability, he wasn’t asking for lessons or advice on how to be a big shot like yourself.
