That is so sexy! I love the pride and care taken in making a truly human interface.

Why on god’s green earth would you go through the effort of finding and cleaning up nice walnut, matching up the grain, only glueing so that it’s seamless, and then make the REMOVABLE PANEL WITH 4 SCREWS ON THE VISIBLE TOP RATHER THAN ON THE BOTTOM BENEATH THE ADHESIVE FEET LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES OMG THAT FRUSTRATED ME
@WesleyTreat12 сағат бұрын
@777robocop I didn't. The screws are on the bottom. Did you expect me to hold the case above my head and screw them in from beneath?

15:11 YES!!!! I commented on one of your other videos where that happened how much I hate it. I literally threw out all of my 1 inch bits because of that reason. I only use 2 inch bits now. They can be chucked in a drill and have the attachment point to be locked into a quick change bit or impact.

I'd have made the boxes (both sizes) as drawers rather than boxes placed on shelves. Then get rid of the shelves (except for a couple to help keep the cabinet frame sturdy. Make the "tray" drawers 1/2 or 1/3 the height of your apple box drawers. Then install a set of runners in the cabinet and on the sides of the drawers that are sized for a full stack of the shallower tray drawers. Then you can slide two trays in the space of an apple box or one apple box in the space for two trays. You'll be able to add more boxes or more trays as you find you need them and shift the order of them in your cabinet without being limited by all the shelves that only allow trays in the tray section and boxes in the box section. Check out Wittworks for his base cabinet build to see how this would work. It's super flexible because I find that I start out with an idea of how many deep vs shallow drawers I need but over time I get more tools that need deep boxes or I want more shallow ones for keeping the contents in a single layer vs stuffed in a drawer on top of each other. The Wittworks design is for two sizes of drawers but you might want to go to three different sizes so you can have very shallow drawers (boxes) for some more flexibility.

Could you have made the cuts for the bends with the CNC? Probably would have taken longer, but I find where I always get in trouble either by messing up material or putting myself in danger, is doing many repeated cuts. Although, I can also see how it can be a bit meditative.

My Grandmother had "Jarts"; we played with them a lot as kids and now I'm kind of curious where they ended up. At any rate, they were amusing, but hardly a thing that held our attention for long. Just something to do when we were REALLY bored. I don't doubt we had adult supervision, but I'm happy to report none of us kids ever received any additional perforations during our play.

The most impressive part of this project is more about your character than the build itself. You left your mistakes in the video, no edits. That's empowering to everyone watching... No one, no matter the skill level or years of experience is impervious to "the dumb"... I salute your craftsmanship, your wit / humor / clever one liners / integrity / honesty / entertainment / educational content you put into every video. You are a treat to watch. :P

It was 1970 and my buddy and I thought it would be fun if one of us stood in the backyard and the other in front yard of his (single story ranch) house and throw lawn darts over the roof of the house at each other. Luckily, we both survived. I'm currently 62 and this bone-headed memory still gives me goosebumps for its sheer idiocy. Nine-year old boys need constant supervision.

@Wesley Treat - If you want to find old switches and lights as well as other cool vintage stuff NOS, you can contact REM Electronics in Warren OH. Talk to Danny Meyers. He has been there a long time and knows about this stuff. They have a good size warehouse with lots of cool stuff in stock that they do not advertise. Just old stock collected by their founder that has not been touched in probably 30 years.

Another dirty hack is to paint the outside white. As a young home owner I slapped half a can of expired indoor white waterbased paint directly on the unpainted galvanised steel roof of my garage, and achieved similar results to yours. Why such inappropriate paint? Because I had it, and recovered it with lots of mixing. Was it perfect? No, but it was free and 10 years later almost all the paint was still there.

For me, what's even more frustrating than movement during glue ups is pocket holes. Every gosh darned time I use them, even with clamps, they pull and move the joint just a little forward. I've started putting a screw into end grain prior to pocket holes to hold the joint, then removing the screws into end grain.

Hey Wesley! New sub here. Love your videos. Sorry to hijack this video's comment section, but I couldn't help but admire your work pants. They look nice and seem to have some nice features. I've even tried tracking them down, but the brand I found... I think is women's only 😂. Would you mind sharing the brand ?
@WesleyTreat8 күн бұрын
Sounds like you found Dovetail Workwear. Those are the ones. I know several guys in the maker community who wear them. Don't worry, they're just pants. They zip on the usual side, they cover your legs, and the pockets hold stuff. 👍
