In my culture, you'd have to pay for those actions whilst she is still living and ask for forgiveness in front of the whole family uncles and aunts. Then she has to say it out loud that she forgives you or not. You have to repay with money and assets. Withdrawal is often a main reason one continues to use drugs even when they desperately want to be clean. Withdrawal can be extremely scary and often deadly. Not to mention a literal nightmare to go through. And unfortunately most addicts arent exactly surrounded by clean and supportive people, or anything positive to cling onto so whats suppose to give them the strength to fight against their own brain and body telling them if they just use they would feel better again..? Its an extremely sad and vicious cycle and unfortunately locking em up for a day or 2 or puting them on probation isnt going to help. Withdrawal lasts an average of 5 to 7 days (although it feels like a month) and simply "getting clean" most often doesnt solve the issue, they just go back because they still have the underlying issue and impossible to fight desires and no tools to fight temptation. They need help and support not fines and jail time.. less judgement and more understanding.

Send them to the farms that will be short workers in a few months. Help them get straight while working the fields.
