Lol! I wish G3 Venus had an Afro! She’d be flying off the shelves. But G3 are cowards they don’t want black people to have anything. 😂😂😂 I do hope o-girl sees this and makes the print. I’d love to see it fully realized. Maybe if it gets big enough she can have her own toy company that’d be cool

Have you seen Fearbook Venus Mcflytrap? She has a pink+green afro! Similar to Honey Swamp from g1. It is only that one version of Venus which is unfortunate tho, yea.

I think these toys are really beautiful. You did a great job of conveying your idea. I'm not small anymore, but I would definitely buy one for myself, and it would also be great if the brand became popular, to look at the creation of new characters by craftsmen based on these dolls, like with monster High. It is a pity that such a beautiful concept is not allowed to come to life. But let's hope so.

Hi, no because this is Savannah Alexandras design and she might want to make something similar. I will have the smaller centaur at the end of the video (the Kenner Shimmer style one) up eventually probably.

If you haven’t already, I think you should consider posting a tutorial on how to 3d sculpt BJDs! It would be such a helpful resource for a lot of people including myself. When I was trying to create my own BJD, I couldn’t find any sculpting tutorials or helpful resources for it, which ended up making me procrastinate on it for weeks because I was scared of screwing it up lol
@art-eroflore8 күн бұрын
Hi! I can totally relate to that. I'm working on making a video about my first bjd I have fully printed. I also procrastinated on my first one for a super long time (like. months. nearly a year) and wasn't even going to have it tested but I posted the prototype and someone sent me the resin print so I'm able to make adjustments and such. Between that BJD, which is part of my Takara projects, and the edits I've made to the dollightful bunny doll, I've learned a lot about 3D sculpting BJDs I would like to pass on!

This I really cool to watch after making my own BJD 3d model to resin print, and it’s really interesting to see how different 3d modeling softwares work, yours (I assume blender?) is very very different from Nomad Sculpt and it’s really interesting to see the process and see every way in which it’s different!

oh and yes this is blender! It's a pretty complex program and it does have a sculpt mode but I don't use the sculpt as much as other modes.

Maybe a silly question, but do you have any favorite go-to tutorials or resources you used to learn blender for doll/toy making? Or even basics functions or commands you use often? I know there are a ton of resources out there and I think I'm finding myself more paralyzed by choice than anything. (No worries if not!) You just make the process of sculpting dolls seem really approachable and fun and your sculpts are really cute! A delight to watch! Thank you for sharing them! : )
@art-eroflore9 күн бұрын
Not a silly question! I learned blender pretty recently. TBH none of the resources I learned from are for doll/toy making specifically but I can at least tell you the channels I preferred. I have a couple posts on my tumblr going over my shortcuts, I eventually want to make a video aimed at teaching people what I've learned but it has been put on hold ATM. Joey Carlino has an intro to blender video that moves pretty slowly and goes over a ton of basics, so I recommend that. BranSculpts 10-part tutorial has influenced my process the most, it's a LOT of videos but he does a much better job explaining than most people. Also, for toy design you don't need to do all of it (for 3D printing its not necessary to retopologize or create armatures). There is also a 2-part tutorial by Eve Sculpts that is easy to follow.

@ thank you so much for the info!! This is really helpful. I'll definitely take a look at those channels and check out your tumblr as well. Omg it’s like the fates sent me here because I was dming Savannah awhile ago giving a whole explanation and rundown of how she could instead make a physical toy shop of her own if she got a team together who can model, print (I personally have a resin printer and mentioned the usage of those), and see the intricate clothes she could def make this a thing! But you’d have to find someone capable of painting them all as well. Anyways awesome work!
@art-eroflore10 күн бұрын
She could definitely make one-off customs, at least, if she had someone make the model and print it. I don't think resin printing itself is viable for a large scale operation (cost-wise), you'd need some sort of resin casting (given the time + expense it takes to resin print, plus the waste generated by making a ton of models that way would build up over time). She would probably be limited in the body types + face molds she could make, the amount of colors, and so on, although I know some people do on demand printing it is still relatively expensive. Although I can't pretend im perfectly knowledgeable, I don't have a resin printer myself but have done a lot of research! Moonlight Jewel for example had the Meeko dolls which were pre-ordered and resin-cast by a factory. But they were also very expensive to buy, and I think they didn't have paint when ordered.
@blackautumnrabbit12310 күн бұрын
@@art-erofloreI was actually thinking instead of resin casting since ik a lot of people do that, it could be better to just print them as needed. Like off the printer they’re the perfect size and such. I think a large scale operation would work with at least 2+ printers and doing it piece by piece so depending on what size printer you have you could do one print but it’s all a batch of heads, another print session is all arms, etc! I think it would make things more streamline and being that she mentioned wanting them to be like ongoing series dolls I’d imagine more than one being sold of each so you’d want to keep the files and sizing for each character separately. This allowing still for varying body types and such. Though I will say the different resin bodies might make clothes swaps hard if certain clothes are fitted for a skinner character and others for chubbier
@blackautumnrabbit12310 күн бұрын
Also wanted to add the supports from making the prints and any left over resin pieces can be reused for other things :D I’ve often done that whenever I print since I get wary of wasting supplies

awesome video ! i think seeing it in motion made me realize i really hate the lack of accurate leg articulation but that could just be the mlp fan in me i know four point articulation would be a hassle to produce
@art-eroflore10 күн бұрын
I assume you mean the fact the elbow instead of the shoulder is articulated on the front? And the fact that the stifle is not articulated on the back. When I was working recently on an anatomically-accurate g1 MLP body I spent some time trying to figure out how to make 4-part articulation work. Most articulated horse toys only use 3-part articulation, and I was wondering why until I realized adding the extra parts only veeeeery slightly changes the movement, especially on the front shoulder. The resulting shoulder and flank joints are very round (oval shaped) when simplified, hence why usually the shoulder is merged with the body and the stifle merged with the flank. I would say maybe adding the stifle is the only extra joint I would add to an articulated horse. None of the MLP toys have accurate articulation to a horse anyways; I think the new gens have 2-part and the old ones have 1-part.
@yume544110 күн бұрын
@art-eroflore oh no, sorry ! i didn't mean mlps toys, but the show itself because i'm so used to seeing all the joints being used in the animation, it feels a little weird to not see them all in a similar figure but yeah, i can only imagine trying to achieve complex articulation while maintaining simple production and good shapes would be tough
@art-eroflore10 күн бұрын
@@yume5441 ah yeah, well to be fair the MLP shows, especially the newer ones, also cheat a lot at horse articulation too. so its difficult to balance what people are used to seeing, what is practical, and what is realistic

Centaurs are half human/half horse. That's pretty anthro right there. The Minotaur was the offspring of a white bull and King Meiosis' wife. There's a difference.

I've got several of the antu blind box centaur dolls, and they're so cute! They're pretty well-made and the face printing is spot on with all four of them that I have, and the dresses are adorable, too. They come with extra hands and removable tails for posing, and they hold their poses pretty well. That being said, I still REALLY want the centaura dolls to be a thing!

Hello! I use blender too, and I sculpt often, so I wanted to recommend you set the "dyntopo" (dynamic topography, little button above at the right by the axes) on and use the 6 configuration. That will allow you to make even more detailed sculpts as you zoom in, and the crevices won't look too rough. It's a game changer. Another tip is to set your brushes (by tapping the brush button right above) on "accumulate" and "front faces only" (bottom of the tab that will open) which will give you an infinite amount of "clay" to play with and will make it so the brushes will not affect the backsides or inner sides of your sculptures, respectively. You need to configurate each new brush, and make sure dyntopo is on every time you go back to sculpting. I hope this helps! I am enjoying the video so far!
@art-eroflore11 күн бұрын
thanks for the tips! I do know about the dyntopo modifier, I used it a lot early on when I was learning to do blender but I guess I just kind of forgot about it over time, especially since you can't use it with things that are already texture painted so it kept being inconvenient (and it always turned itself off... and would get laggy if I looked at it wrong). But I'll keep the accumulate settings in mind. tbh I tend to circumvent the sculpting tools in favor of editing mode ^^;
