I believe mixing the sealant with water will help make it more matte.

for my other sculpt i tried something similar for a slightly less shiny result! it does end up a bit shiny no matter what sadly.

Oh My God I am in love with your art and your videos! You are so inspiring to me. I love seeing your process and your use of materials. You seem to fly by the seat of your pant with most of it, and the outcome is soo so pretty! xoxo

thank you, i appreciate the comments! I do often do stuff on the fly, thats what a lot of the projects on this channel are for, but its a weird balance because all these dolls also take a long time to complete. so its like thinking up an idea on the fly and then having to spend a week on completing it! persistence is key!

I really loved the deep dive into the process! It's nice to know I'm not the only one jumping from thing to thing, and not the only one jumping in the deep end of a new skill/hobby!
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! A lot of my current projects are things I was always nervous to do before and you just gotta go for it! Also I have no idea how people with really complicated processes streamline everything so well- even in this video where I tried to put the painting all together, sculpting, etc, as best as possible its pretty clear I'm jumping around. But oh well, sometimes one piece is drying and you wanna keep going on the project so theres that...

@@art-eroflore honestly it's refreshing to see a less "polished" process! It feels like crafting w a friend
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
@@countermelody167 LOL thanks, I'm definitely approaching my videos as my process while learning, rather than a tutorial for others, since I'm not an expert at doing any of this art. But hopefully people'll like to see some experimental stuff from a non-expert, I can be like a grounded medium between non-artists and those professionals with polished videos and expensive tools ;P

Aww she's so cute! for a mushroom hat like that next time, you could try silk clay?
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
:000 i have never heard of this thing before! Silk clay; the internet says it is bouncy/rubbery? that sounds PERFECT for a mushroom! Thank you for letting me know, i HAVE to try that sometime & experiment. Maybe if i made it thin i could make bendy gills? ooo the possibilities...

I think you're underrated channel right now and you should definitely make more projects and post more! I don't know how u feel about unsolicited critsicm but Id only say ur camera angles for filming and pictures tends to tilt a little too much as you said ^^ i recommend getting some kind of good tripod u don't have to prop and or getting a family member or a friend to hold the camera for you ^^ This doll is very cute and I think you should consider selling dolls if you can stand parting with any of them which is my problem when it comes to selling LOL
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate it! Re: the camera angles, I actually have a tripod, a really nice one, my actual problem is my desk was suuuuper cluttered and so instead of filming there and straight down or at a specific angle for details, I'd been filming on the floor / side tables which is very chaotic. I have a bad habit of sitting in an armchair and using the side table for projects instead of my art table. I'm trying to be more consistent with the lighting as well, when I was editing this video i noticed that issue (just got a new computer so editings easier! I actually had to re-edit this video from scratch a second time which is one reason it took so long). I actually filmed this one a few months ago (in like april actually lol), my videos should slowly get less hectic from here. I am also considering doing a little "studio tour" once I get things more organized which'll... really show off how bad things were. I get you there!; re: selling them. It takes me so long to do them its hard to imagine selling them, too. I think if I end up making enough of them I'll get there, but right now its about experimenting and seeing which processes I like best.

8:50 which material is this?
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
Its just a roll of white medical gauze, any fabric is fine to use for a doll like this but gauze clings to itself very well so its easy to use.

She came out so well! :D The end result was def worth the journey ^_^ I would however love to see how you connect the head to the body, as i got no clue how you pulled that off. I am diving into my own journey of art dolls, and the moveable head is def something i would like to try out. Do you have a vid of this already? Or can you direct me to one where it is shown? ^_^ I subbed to you so fast, your whole attitude is amazing, i love you dont give up or cut corners. If you wanna do it, then do it right! :D Can't wait to see more from you
@art-eroflore Жыл бұрын
heyyy thank you so much for the comment! tbh the secret that i was kinda embarassed to show here was her heads never been properly attached. The goal was to make this like a ball jointed doll, but I hadn't made one at that point, so it was all in theory / testing stage! I tried to attach head/neck with an elastic. I put a metal rod (paperclip) across the neck hole and slipped an elastic around it in a loop, then put the elastic around a second rod hidden in her head. This mightve been neat if it worked but I decided on this idea before making the doll and didn't realize how thick and heavy the polymer clay would end up being. The elastic wasn't strong enough and probably not tight enough. Honestly after making my pumpkin girl BJD, I still think the idea I had with my mushroom girl would work in theory... When I was taking pictures of her in the woods, the elastic system broke haha. I stuck a literal stick into the neck hole as a neck peg, which actually worked surprisingly well. When I'm taking pictures of her in my later videos, I used silicone putty to stick her head to neck and also putty her head up to the backdrop. All in all, her head is kind of a disaster, but she's a display piece of art anyways and just for me, so its nbd. A worse part is how the crack in her hand later actually broke and I had to glue it back together.

@@art-eroflore Oh! That is such a bummer. The idea was brilliant, but i guess it was just not meant to happen then ^_^ I will keep that in mind about the heavyness of a head if i decide to try it out myself. I do know how BJD's works as i own one myself. I will experiment as i build up my first art doll. Ty for replying
