I am not even done with the video yet- but I just truly truly love the "eh I'll figure it out as I go" mentality you carry. Not a "eh I'll cut corners and not do my best" not "this one is gonna be bad but I guess I'll try" not "I'm not ready to do the thing". Just. "I trust myself to figure it out." I'm working very hard in my own creative endeavors to have this mentality, and it is so inspiring to see it modelled like this. Thank you. For not only being kind to yourself and letting yourself be freely creative, but also being kind enough to share here.

Thank you!! It is honestly very hard to have this mentality and I'm working on it! That's why I had the WIP doll pieces in the first place- I didn't have the confidence to finish the doll 6 months ago and just left the bits as is. I definitely think "im not ready to do this" most of the time, but I'm working on moving past it. The dolls have really helped me.

It takes a while too get there- took me years I started my “oh I wanna do that” art career of sorts when I was like nine- and only in the past two years have I actually started to go “I can leave that to be figured out as I go! Because these legs ✨need painting✨”

Watching you make me want to try being creative again 🥺🥺 your do open and self reflective about mistakes or when things are just going wrong on your way to getting to the final product. I feel like I don't see that nearly enough, so I give up when things go wrong. So... Thank you for being so wonderfully chaotic and amazing and inspiring ☺️💞💞
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
aww thanks! Being aware of but *accepting* your mistakes is a skill that I'm still working on. This project, after all, is made of one I *did* give up on like six months ago and re-used the pieces for! So go, be creative, and even if you give up you can pick up the pieces and make something new!

I think you did an amazing job of her .She’s turned out beautiful..I think your right about the gloss though ,Matt varnish would have softened her appearance and made her more like a shadow.But the doll herself was so beautifully made and so was all her clothes and the pumpkin head.you lack a bit of confidence but there are a lot of doll re painters that have not made their own dolls.They are just starting after many years and because they have expensive printers.So you girl have done what many of the others have not done.Be proud of yourself.The more you work on dolls the better you get .Love n Light 🥰

Idk how you came up in my algorithm but it’s awesome to see someone make a bjd from scratch. I always see people just paint and make clothes/hair. This looks better because of its imperfections. I doesn’t look factory made but has a rustic organic quality I love

thank you! my understanding of the bjd community is they're usually made from master casts, but i think my aesthetic is a little different from most bjds so buying one isn't as interesting as making it myself tbh.

nice, I gotta remember that for crossword puzzles! stuff like that comes up all the time- i only know "en pointe" and "plie" (and i don't even know the spelling of... plie? ple? plea?)
@rubybard2 жыл бұрын
Two items you might want to look into: MSC (Mr Super Clear Matte Finish) and Black 3.0 pigment. The first is the doll cusomisation standard sealent. The second Is one of the darkest pigments in the world! You can get it in powder or paint form and it drys suuuuper matte. It would be wonderful for a project like this. You could also look into trying flocking to make her look sortove shadowy but it would also make her fuzzy.
@art-eroflore Жыл бұрын
at the time (and now) i didnt have the money to get extra sealant, but ive also heard its not recommended for certain clays so id have to check compatibility. Im not sure about black 3.0 but i know some of the black pigments are somewhat toxic, but someday! flocking is something im hoping to explore in future projects but it would be good for this one- i havent decided if im gonna make anothero ine of these in the future. thanks for the comment! :D

I also decided one day (whilst already being awake for 24 hours) that I would make a bjd and I also made my own beans and same exact errors pretty much 💀😭 she’s still sitting unfinished, she’s strung together but not painted or anything. I realized watching this that air dry clay probably would’ve been better than super sculpey but I was working with what I immediately had with me 💀😭
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you're pretty far through so I'd say go for finishing it! even if its "just okay" or has lots of errors its satisfying to know you've completed something. I've seen people use sculpey for BJDs, I think its not as common because it's heavier, but if you have stronger elastic and its not too heavy it should be alright, at least for display purposes if you can assemble a stand of some sort.
@_kenna.Bean_2 жыл бұрын
@@art-eroflore yes! It’s can sit on a shelf and kind of hold a pose I just haven’t strung it tight enough I think but I mean it works but I think I can definitely improve it with air dry clay on top maybe and making clothes 😀 my nightmares await me 😭

Have you tried using epoxy sculpt?
@art-eroflore8 күн бұрын
In my most recent video, I used 2-part apoxie, it's something I've started using more recently. But I have heard it is not as good for ball jointed dolls because it is very heavy, or at least it needs to be used sparingly. (it is also rather expensive! so i use it in small amounts)

2:56 "Ballerinas have crazy strength in their toes".....Nope. When we dance we wear ballet shoes. These shoes have hard built-up cardboard (some have light wood) at the point that takes the weight of our bodies when en pointe. So, your statement should be, "Ballerinas have crazy strength in their ankles". Look up photos of Ballerinas en pointe and pay close attention to the ballet slippers....they end in a small flat rectangle. Beautiful work on your pumpkin Ballerina! 🎃 🩰
@art-eroflore2 жыл бұрын
i didn't know the shoes were so supportive! when making both her feet and shoes i referenced a lot of pictures and the finished shoes are very rectangular, actually more rectangular than an actual ballet shoes- i tried to structure them as best as possible on a small scale so they use thick paper instead of cardboard.. i suppose i mostly based that comment on hearing about the damage the legs/feet of ballerinas incur as well as looking at a lot of pictures of damaged ballerina feet while sculpting! anyways, thanks for the comment, learn something new every day!
