Hi Eamon, makes you feel confident just looking at it. Do you sell your flies commercially? Also if a CDC pattern like this gets waterlogged, do you change fly or dry it out with the powder / other methods?

Hi Eamonn i was up at magoney bridge a couple of weeks ago, very low and tough. i had one fish and lost 2 compared to my last visit in spring i had about 30. Might try a different stretch next time before the season ends, what other stretch would you recommend this time of year?
@tainflyfishing930223 күн бұрын
Try the lower region of the river there's more of a flow ,I was in knockbridge in this video, if the river goes up another foot the river will start to fish again all over , the low water is making it so hard

Congrats on the leinster win Eammon. i fished Magoney bridge up and down stream on your recommendation when river fane was a bit high while back, had a supper day with about 30 fish. Ten or so is usually a good day for me so thanks very much. I paid for the season so i want to go back for more. With rivers in nice condition now can you recommend another stretch for me to try please? i will fish right into darkness, my favoured way to fish is dry, dry dropper, and then nymphing, in that order. Thanks very much Eamonn that's a gem of a river, cheers.

@mylesreilly5912 Hi myles thanks for the kind words, to be honest up round there is still good in lower conditions, the dryfly fishing is super at the moment ,just run your flies through the weeds and the trout will come out of knowhere to grab them ,I find the sedge is working well size 16s

Hey guys , Love your videos, I am new to fly fishing and will be doing most of my fishing on the Munster blackwater and I was wondering if anyone had some good recommendations for good books for fly fishing in general and in particular fly fishing in Ireland. Cheers
@tainflyfishing93024 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words , I would recommend a book by Peter O Rielly the rivers of Ireland, if you're goin to the munster black water check out Glenda Powell

Thanks a million for the info , I will definitely pop up to Glenda as I'm in the process of picking my first fly set up which is also a tough task. We recently moved here and live a stones throw from the river so we might as well enjoy all it has to offer. Thanks again and look forward to your videos and insight.

new fly fisher here; why such a long leader? is that particular to nymphing?
@tainflyfishing93026 ай бұрын
Hi there, there's a few reasons, you are only fishing onfront of you so no need for the flyline to cast the nymphs far when you have more control when they are close to you,then also a leader is thinner than a flyline and the leader sags less outside the tip and more of a direct connection to the nymphs ,Hope this helps

Surely, if the fish are rising, you should be using a dry fly? 20 years ago, Euro Nymphing was called Czech nymphing. The joke was, it was practised by people who couldn’t cast! Even today, I see people who have only recently learned to “fly fish” catch plenty of fish whilst Euro nymphing. Yet, they haven’t got the skill to cover a rising fish with a dry fly. Which begs the question; is Euro nymphing really fly fishing? You have cracking looking water there. Tight lines
@tainflyfishing93027 ай бұрын
Hi Jim, this time of year the trout will take anything that goes past them this time of year, for the few fish that was rising we got more on nymphs , it is definitely possible for people who can't cast to catch fish on nymphs but those who can cast will definitely catch more with nymphs than anyone else on the river,I think it is flyfishing because you are imitating a fly in its early stage of life ,I do agree it takes alot of practice and skill to use the dryfly, I think each method falls under the umbrella of flyfishing, yes this river is nice ,its worth a day ticket
