53:35 Thank you for this, I took a step back from stand-up to pursue more philosophical knowledge. I want to know my rhetoric is compressed to 💎 instead of just adding more dust to the wind! This made me feel way less lame for getting back into my universal religious studies that I have always fancied 🤓

Great lecture. Thank you. It provokes me to wonder if platonism is comparable with Christianity why medieval Christians were burning plato’s work and opposing all great minds of Greek Philosophy. We are just lucky their work were preserved by the medieval muslim philosophers.

Thanks for sharing your teachings of platonic philosophy with us all. My question is about when how know a triangle a (logos)🔺️ I can only see a pear shape. but I am unable to see that it is a pear. It is not a triangle. I am seduced and sensed SEE a triangle because I chose to be deceived. My reward is the seduction. So how does an entire crowd, except for one or two (others that run away as apostles did) when truth is stated clearly as someone says to crowd ' that is a pear', as the wife of Cesar did, when the crowd at the trial then crucifixion of Jesus heard truth as she tells cesar 'that man is is is innocent' With concepts of 'logos', Plato taught, how is it that an entire crowd sees the form as a pear or that Jesus deserves to die? . All people are convinced the pear is a triangle. Or that it is a great day to crucify a man by punishment. The worst crime punishment practiced by the romans; as a correction to punishment but not necessary for an innocent man.? As you mentioned at the start, Plato was fascinated by how all people could not see the truth. This is very difficult??? Holocaust in Germany of innocent Jewish people and on and on in history. Or there is a human black man hanging in the tree and folks simply look then turning away they justify it as a triangle (not the pear shape) and just walk on by. Then newly warped minds are all unable to know basic truths. since we will realize we were somehow so confused and crazy we didn't see true form. Not only fascinating but horribly magical as possessed or stupid. Only that knowledge of how we are only a coward as humanity takes huge loss with our guilt and stupidity. Thanks again. Josie V

Israel's TORAH (like Exod 20) preceeded Kings David and Solomon, the Temple and the Babylonian captivity. And so Israelis getting the week from Babylonians can't be true.
@georgebrooks77753 ай бұрын
It only preceded it, possibly, as an oral tradition. The point that matters is that the Hebrew Bible only became a written text after the Babylonian captivity, and outside the walls of Babylon, where scribes talked to scribes, and the influence of a vastly superior culture with high level mathematics and astronomy clearly exerted some influence on some of the stories captured in the Hebrew Bible.

I feel like I can’t gain knowledge because I don’t agree with my own thoughts as they are developing. I’m skeptical of the validity and relevance of all facts. For example … I’m stuck between thinking that my life is insignificant in comparison to the timespan/size of the universe and thinking that it is super important because it is so rare in comparison to the timespan/size of the universe. ^That would be assuming that the universe is as big and old as they say. Assuming that I’m even alive… I want to be wise and seek knowledge but I cannot stop questioning everything long enough to retain anything. I’ve developed a bad habit of contradictory thought. Heck I think that’s the only thing that’s certain. Any tips and or books you can recommend?
@georgebrooks77753 ай бұрын
The fact that you are asking such questions means you are already on the path of the philosopher. Do not despair...you are in the company of the thousands of philosophers and poets who have pondered the same questions. I don't know what to recommend...there are so many paths you might start on to get to your destination. I began with "Illusions" by Richard Bach...but you might find wisdom and your prod elsewhere. Happy journey to you.

This is false on so many levels and absolute heresy. Believe this garbage at your own peril. First, Jews do not believe Jesus is awesome or even a prophet. They believe he is burning in hot human excrement according to their Talmud. Muslims however do think he is a prophet and good, just not divine. Jesus is divine and is the Son of God and is the only way to the Father. BTW, the Apostles all wrote their gospels while they were alive and we still have their teachings today. I feel sorry for anyone who believes what this man teaches.
