I liked Kyoto way better than Osaka personally, I had some pretty negative experiences in Osaka that put me off, even as a Japanese speaker🤷♀️

Oh, I guess you did say "COUNTRY", because ISLANDS, there are ones that are way boringer. IDK though. Dominica still seems more interesting than Bahamas and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. But I would only visited Dominica for a couple days from a neighboring island. It's not a place I think is worth making a special trip to.

I’ve been traveling full time for the last 2 years and this hits home. The only solution I can find is meet others that live this lifestyle and meet up with them in different countries

I worked as a contractor with the United States Navy. I was given an assignment in Mumbai. India is the most disgusting place I’ve ever seen. The women are putrid. Trash piled up in the streets. Raw sewage flowing in the gutters, enough that you could smell the shit. No air conditioning, the city is festering pit of gross. The air stinks. They shit, bathe, eat and drink using the same water. It literally is hell on earth.

Min 15:55 unfortunately, that´s an everyday situation for many people back there. Crime rates are lowering but compared to other countries (and if you come from a 1st wolrd country) it´ll seems too high (but kidnappings are not that usual nowadays), and some venezuelans criminals are helping to increase those rates (they are more violent than local criminals). BUT, to say Colombia it´s a fucked up place, seems to harsh for me, even a ungrateful comment. But anyway, that´s what you think and I can´t do anything. Funny thing is: I lived there for decades, never been robbed at gunpoint (not even a knife). Just a broken window in my car for a backpack (just like in LA) I could recover few hours later. Robber was a venezuelan guy (according to police)... but I was robbed in Peru... Anyway: If you or anyone want to come to Colombia, enjoy the food, the landscapes, the truly heartwelcoming people and see the positive side of that country, do it based on plan, with basic precautions and a lot of smart sense. It like a hike in a forest, not in a park: be aware, know you stuff and enjoy...

So, when I travel, I try to go to the same place twice. It could be staying for two nights at the same hotel, having a coffee twice in the same coffee shop, walking down the same street two times, and so forth. It is something that, for some weird reason, creates a warm feeling of belonging and it is cozy. By the way, it also works if you are visiting the same place during your second trip.

Ive been there and i felt like you said like i had a target on mmy back. Walking the streets of bogota i felt like i was being followed a few times, not secure there. But the coast where all the tourist end up is pretty safe. The people are great, just too bad security is an issue.

I have lived in Brazil for over 10 years, and I have had a terrible experience. I have been mugged more than 3 times, my family has been kidnapped (they only stole money and didn't hurt anyone, fortunately). There was once a time when my colleague didn't return money that I lent them, and when I questioned them about it, they got angry. What's worse is that many criminals use their money to buy drugs. I heard of a case where an elderly man lost all his belongings, including his documents, because of the mugging and is now living on the streets. I became a KZbinr to show the reality of Brazil to the poor immigrants who are arriving here.
