Lived there for 5 years, beside the onsens there is not much to do which actually awesome coz you know you aren't missing much at night... kyusho nature is very beautiful, best to get a car and just drive around in there. Yufuin village and lake is like 30mins away.. if no car at the very least take the bus to the university's amphitheater (APU). Very nice view up there.

In america the beers on a cruise are like $18 for a can of fosters. Or at least that's what it cost in 2007 when I made the dire mistake of trying a cruise out. FML what a bad experience (Vegas on land is superb for a smattering of reasons)
