I've been using braid for quite a while now, but I still have a question. What is the best tool for cutting braid? I used fingernail clippers for mono, but it just crushes the braid without cutting it clean. I've tried scissors, but they don't always cut it cleanly either. I'm back to using a knife, but it has to be my small, razor sharp, pocket knife that's pretty much useless for anything else related to fishing. My bait knife doesn't stay sharp enough. Any ideas?

There a couple great braid scissors options that Rapala sells. I’ve been using them for years. Check their website to see which one would work best for you.

My favorite plastic by far is the Chartruse Back Pearl Keitech Swing Impact 3.5". Just make sure to add a drop of super glue on the hook shank because these baits are very soft and tear easily.

I eat them only a while, they are tasty fish... but not to much because they dont bread like any other fish only if the are the main chain fish in a lake, but idk about other area in usa, california bass have to go against california striper too and striper will eat small bass like they eat small striper, but for striper they breed like crazy but bass dont tho, but i must try your Recipe

Thanks. I find it easier to cut through half of one side (upt to 3.41 on the video), turn over and remove the other fillet, then back to remove the first. For me, it makes the fish more stable when cutting the second side.

I have tried using braid to get longer casts (200 feet and more) and to get better hook sets. I’ve tried 4 carrier AND 8. In both instances I ended up removing it and going back to mono. Why you may ask? Because if wind knots. More than once by the time I got rid of the wind knot I had lost 30-40 YARDS of line. Which means I was back to casting the same distance as I had with mono. Braid is pointless for my uses.
@calebwistad3 күн бұрын
If you aren’t used to keeping slack out of the line, braid will get you in the wind. I’d give it some practice. Long term though, don’t use it if it’s not working for you!

Even after you know how to fillet fish you still learn 1 or 2 New / Different ways to fillet a certain species of fish. But other Walleye Filleting videos also removed the cheeks and the wings of the Walleye.

I like that filleting the belly technique though. That was my 1st time seeing that. I like that. I am going to use that belly technique.

$4.99 is reasonable ?
@calebwistad9 күн бұрын
Around here, yes. Most places are selling them for more than that. The only place you might get them cheaper would be a locally picked roadside fridge crawler peddler if you can find one.
@hewer19535 күн бұрын
@ I’ve not purchased night crawlers in years . I guess it was 1990 last time I bought them. I fished Lake almost exclusively with crawfish and artificial baits . Then I lived in Cancun and used flys and shrimp. Before that I fished rivers with minnows and wild bait .

I don’t know if I’m the only subscriber who grew up fishing in northern Wisconsin, to then live and fish in California, Hawaii, and now Washington, but I love this channel for the nostalgia. My fondest childhood memories are of fishing in Wisconsin and crappy were my favorite fish to catch and eat as a kid. The title of the video threw me off for just a second. It’s snowing and you’re ice fishing in late October? No lakes freeze solid til late December, January or February. Okay, I get it. This was from last winter and more of a let’s get ready for the big freeze later this winter. Since I’m 61 and have really bad hips now, I won’t be heading out on the frozen lakes in the mountains of Washington, but still I found this so educational and fun. Especially how you’re sitting there talking so calmly while reeling in crappy after crappy with every single lure you use. 😅 That’s so Wisconsin. Very professional at your sport, very skilled and effective, yet you seem almost bored with it. Like it’s too easy. 😂 You sir, will never starve in the north woods. Thanks for making my evening after a grueling day at work so fun. Aloha from Washington State. 🤙🏼
