I know everybody says it but try to take as much time as you can to stop and enjoy those younger years. It feels like you blink and they're grown up.

I think you have the lash caps on the wrong valves, it looked like they were on the exhaust and not the intake valves. Hope this finds you before you get it all wrapped up.

Yikes. I’ll double check. Katech installed them before I got the heads, I wouldn’t expect them to get that wrong.
@mgrotelКүн бұрын
@@JoshVanVeld I could have looked wrong too. But I would double check, not something you want to get wrong.

How did you figure out what thickness of head gasket to run?
@JoshVanVeldКүн бұрын
I didn’t. Since Katech handled the short block, heads, and put together a DIY kit for me (including measured pushrods and factory head gaskets), it meant I didn’t have to figure anything out. Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet I’d like to build something in the future where I need to dig deeper on the technical side, but for this I wanted to be as close to assembling LEGOs as I could get to avoid making an expensive mistake.

For those of you wondering if I met my deadline for getting Goldie back on the road, the answer to that question has been filmed and there is a big story to tell. I want to do the story justice, so I'll have to break it into a few videos. I'll try to get them out as fast as I can but it's going to take a while. Thanks for watching!

@Copoc104 күн бұрын
@JoshVanVeld omega spring basically assists a bugout to open and they tend to break. Literally looks like an omega symbol .

The satisfaction you will get from having that new LS7 fire up is going to be immense. The bottom end of your engine will laugh at 700hp and can support much more. not to mention the engine will be more detonation resistant, it will be better balanced then GM's engines ever were, the oiling system will be absolutely on point. I will make a demand that you prime the engine before you crank it over. by that i mean, fill the engine via a oil galley from a pressurized vessel. Look up LS engine oil prime and you will find a fella who used a garden sprayer fitted with a air chuck to fill his engine, it worked flawlessly for me. i took my garden sprayer to 50psi, which netted me 10-12psi of oil pressure on the dash, i would slowly rotate the engine over to insure everything saw oil. i took the valley covers off and insured oil was coming out ontop of the rockers. although this was a wetsump engine, so take that for what its worth. let the engine come up to operating temperature, very the RPM (don't let it idle at 800, bring it up to 1500-2000) after the 30 minute initial break-in. change the oil. cut open the oil filter and look for bad news. (excessive metal etc). One thing i am finding super interesting, is tuning. Woweeeeee there is so much cool stuff you can do. I am learning the holley system, its incredible how much can be done, safeties on safties. like, lets say you rip full throttle and oil pressure drops below 40psi? you can cut your throttle input to 0% for 3 seconds. this can save your engine and bring your attention to a possible issue you might not see happening while doing some spirited driving on track. You can throw racefuel into the car, pop open the laptop and slap that racegas timing tune in about 20 seconds. Whammo. 50-200 additional horseponies. You find medium/low throttle input very tricky to modulate without blowing the tires off in the corner? Throttle sensitivity offsets. Hell, you can get really serious and put in a driveshaft rpm sensor and wheel speed sensor and do a custom traction control setup. You could just floor it in a corner and the car will sort itself. it wouldn't be very fun.... but its a option lol. Anyway, love the quality of your videography, its extremely well done. i am stoked for you and the car, looking forward to the startup video. Do take it to a dyno for engine break in and tuning, your factory ECU will probably work for the initial start, but do not go putting load on the engine without having the car tuned. Also, may want to look into a timing pointer and getting it set up on TDC of your engine. this allows the tuner to verify timing (something you really want to do) and roll out from there. added bonus is timing pointers are like 20-50$ usually. or a real nice one for like 90$.
