I watched the show, Saban been supporting WVU since he retired. he is not going to coach WVU.

but what capacity will Nick Saban contribute to the Mountaineer Program. He has been to the mountaintop so whatever he brings in is more than what we have now... so we will take whatever he is willing to give.

I’m only about 3.5 mins into video. Yes, Saban pitching WVU to top finalist candidates is very helpful. It adds extra credibility and cache to wvu football program. But, couldn’t any of those HC candidates push back and say: If this university is so special, why didn’t you ever coach at WVU? It’s a valid question. Saban bounced around a lot to various coaching positions. Didn’t have a long term position until 2007. I don’t know Saban’s whole job history. But, there’s a strong chance he may have been looking for new job in 2000. When RichRod was hired.

Rich Rod is the man for the job! Hes a WV guy! He gets the people. He has family here! Hes done it before. Hes done an amazing job at Jax State! He knows how to recruit! Hes hungry to redeem himself! He is hard edged, Fiery, and competitive! He has apologized publicly for what happened before when he left for Michigan! However, I never held it against him for taking a Blue Blood job! Thats what coaches do and dream of doing! Everyone deserves a second chance. If he saw that he wasnt getting the job done at WVU he would step down and hand the job off because he loves the program and the state! He is our guy because he gets West Virginia!!!

WREN got the right guy for the bowl game. He is the offensive coordinator Chad knows these players better than any other coach on staff.

If this is the same guy that was running the backs a couple years ago, at 1 of the camps, he couldn't even coordinate 25 running backs to get in a straight line. So I'm really not impressed with this

IMO, the only reason to be talking to someone like Glenn Schumann is if Jimbo Fisher, Dan Mullen, and Rich Rodriguez are all not interested in the job which I would find hard to believe. Wren Baker does like talking to a lot of people during these searches as a way to get to know other coaches, but just because he is talking to other candidates doesn’t mean he is seriously considering them. All of Baker’s hires to date at WVU have been successful head coaches at other places except for Steve Sabins who was was already on Mazey’s staff. I just don’t see Baker changing his successful hiring formula. I’m not sure if Saban had any interaction with Schumann when he was at Alabama as a grad student, but I do know what Saban said about Fisher. He called Fisher the best offensive coordinator he has ever had at the college or pro level. High praise from the greatest college coach of all time.

It makes sense that Marines in boot camp would cry, I would too if they took away the person supplying me with crayons to eat. Lol. In all seriousness, Saban has family in Marion county, I’m sure he will work as an ambassador if asked as long as he felt it was appropriate. What college football is, and what most fans will not understand, now is a business. The head football coach is the CEO, I’m sure the next head coach will have around 100 staff members to manage along with the number of players. It helps if a coach has an offensive or defensive background, but now a hard coach needs to find coordinators to do that for them. I feel that was the down fall of Dana and Neal. As for Neal, if the Dana wanted a guy to embrace culture or be a good ol’ boy. Then they should have never cried about Neal Brown. From all my sources he was a great man. I will say this as well for those that want a “ great” power of 5 coach, Neal, and this is an example of why I think no matter who you put on as the HFC, took Troy to 3 11 win seasons plus a win against LSU in Death Valley. I am extremely surprised at the lack of success. Say what you want about what COVID did or the mass exodus a few years ago. But I am surprised by the lack of success. This to me would be the candidates I would like to see get an interview, plus a wildcard, and who I think we will hire. 1. Dan Mullen 2. Pat Shummer. 3. Rich Rod. 4. Glen Schumman and 5. Jimbo. My wildcard would be Eddie George the HFC at Tennessee St. I think in the end they will go with the HFC of Liberty if we can find the money to hire him. I will say that Though Pat Shummer is way to young the move from D Coordinator at UGA to the HBC at WVU is at best a Lateral move.

It is probably kind of hard for these West Virginia guys like Saban, Jimbo, Pat, etc., to see how far WVU football has fallen. They may have been all over the nation but they're still Mountaineers and always will be. It would be great to see them come together and actually do something meaningful for the program and help set it back on track. God knows after the last six years, we can use all the help they could offer.

I know you don’t want Jimbo and you keep bring up that he had all the resources that he needed to win but you have to keep in mind that so does Alabama, LSU, Auburn and even Ole Miss. You can also say that Missouri is no sister of poor. It’s a tough league to win in. I did a little research on Jimbo. We all know his overall and SEC record but here’s a little more depth. First off, he was 13-21 vs winning teams (Neal was 7-29), 10-16 vs Top 25 (he was 0-3 in his last season but all 3 were 1 score games), 5-10 vs Top 10 and 3-8 vs Top 5. BTW, What FCS team beat him? I couldn’t find one that did. He lost to Appalachian State in 2022 but they’re G5 not FCS. He was 32-4 vs non winning team which proves he wins against teams he’s supposed to beat and get the occasional win against a top 25 that we’re usually use to, unlike Neal.

We need a head coach who will fix the biggest problem WV football has had for years... Can't believe im not hearing a word about the defense. Its clearly biggest problem..Id rather have a great proven defense coordinator as head cosch an he gets a good offense coordinator.
