Ohh! This looks so cool! Is it single perspective or multiple perspectives, jumping between the friend group? I'm also intrigued to hear the "past and present" aspect 👀

It's mostly single POV with a few other perspectives trickled in here and there. 😊

Hellooo thank you for talking about this topic, because there are books that interest me and I would like to read (like Divine Rivals or KISS of the Selkie) but when they are classified as upper YA/NA (mostly when they are in between and not in specific category) I always get confused because I’m uncomfortable with something that minors shouldn’t read, besides OCD and Anxiety doesn’t make it better so I wish that book editors and library should have new categories or be more specific for example in my mother language young adult is mostly someone in their early adulthood from 18 to 25 and when I found out that it’s mostly for people in their teens I was super confused so I think renamed as juvenile or for teens could be more appropriate or at least less confusing (at least for people outside the English speaking world)

I’ve also been trying to reduce carbs and raise protein, it’s tricky since I don’t eat meat but I’ve been doing my best. Carbs are just too good. And I’ve also been slumpy for months now. It’s so frustrating!! I think a lot of people are right now, hopefully it passes soon 🤞

My library has also been increasingly packed recently! I don’t go on the same days so maybe that’s normal for them but some days it seems to crowded! Not a bad thing, I’m happy for them and their consistent use
@asparagusisreading3 ай бұрын
Omgosh yes! The last few years have been exhausting and trying to figure things out and get into a place I can settle in/make a new normal is difficult. I’ve been considering being more active but the idea of doing it is scary. I think I’d prefer lighter exercise with more movement like walls, jogs, yoga, maybe skating. The gym just doesn’t seem enjoyable for me Cava sounds so good right now!!

Good luck on your health journey! June was really really stressful for me and I started going to the gym just to get all of that stress out of my body. I'm so glad that I decided to do that. It works wonders for my mental health. The problems are still there, but they're no longer as overwhelming and I'm better able to cope with life.

I'm confused why Brandon Sanderson is immune to being able to write Asian characters while being white? Honest question I'd love to know...
@thePMreader3 ай бұрын
I don't think I understand your use of the word immune here. Are you saying that Brandon Sanderson is the only white author who has been allowed to write characters of color without anyone questioning it? If that's what you're saying, I don't think Brandon Sanderson is "immune" and that his writing should always be questioned but I do think he consults with various teams while writing books to assure he's not doing groups of people any harm by his portrayal of them. He's not perfect though, so his representation could be lacking in many areas. My questions back for conversation purposes only are: should authors only write characters that match their own race and ethnicity? Should they only use characters of color as side characters or write them out of the story entirely to not have their writing questioned? Doesn't it do more of disservice to readers of color to only see themselves as side characters? Or not in the story at all? What is the best way, if any, for a white author to have diverse characters in their stories?
@forevermoodreading3 ай бұрын
I do think it is problematic to consistently write main characters that are not white when you are white, yes. Side characters that are not white are fine and needed I agree. I also think there are many many books written by BIPOC authors that we can read and should be reading as they are writing their own experiences. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I am white but I find non white author's stories to be more enjoyable to read. Those are the voices I'm choosing to spend my reading on a lot of the time. I think generally I try to avoid white male authors because I don't find I enjoy the writing (re: men writing women). Thank you for answering honestly.

So many fantasies and fun books! I think I'm back in my fantasy era but going slowly with cozy fantasies, fantasy romances, and YA fantasy until I'm ready to dive into a complex world with a new magic system and made up words. AKA fantasy training wheels
