This is very clever. I think having a perfectly smooth bed to the riffle holds the idea back a little with the very ultra fine gold, but that would be easy to change. The design forces even the particles that float to go underwater. Its solid thinking.

Hmm what if you added a strong electromagnet in the catch box to pull the magnetics into the catch box and just have it periodically pulse to clean itself so the wheel is basically 100% clean when it rotates into the separation segment? Less wear and tear over time and more consistent separation..

Nice idea, add a scrubbing flap/sheet on the downstream side to remove the black sands so as the drum rotates it is resets when it faces the upstream side and you could feed it as much material as you wanted all day.

Great idea but unfortunately not pratical out in the wild. This would be more for a clean up station. In the wild, you would have to wait for that to clear, otherwise it looks like it would build up too quickly and never make it under then creating a dam.

Have you experimented with having a larger exit side to make a lower pressure area and adding diagonal pieces on the exit side to make the path the water has to take longer and it would add smaller low pressure pockets for smaller gold???
