Looks like the tires see you coming and they dismount themselves. Nice video. I’m going to try it & hope I don’t lose any teeth in the process. lol

Worked first time. Lucky for me the tire was still on rim, but the ratchet trick worked really well.

Hello friends, admirers of the wonderful Dayton and Trilex wheels! Here in Brazil in the 70s, 80s, 90s until 2000, our trucks used this type of wheels a lot! I personally like them a lot! They are super strong and add a lot of charm to the Truck and Truck. In the 80s I worked at the Swedish automaker SCANIA, precisely assembling these Trilex or Radiated wheels as they are called here in Brazil. Smaller trucks used 5-spoke trucks and heavy-duty 6-spoke trucks. Nowadays it is practically impossible to see new trucks.

No Safety Cage? No Cleaning the Studs with Wire Beush and Putting Oil On them? No Torque of studs to 450-500 ft lbs? I bet he isn't TIA Certified?

Yep Ive done this too. It helps to use a block of wood on the inside tire vs jacking it up. You can even use the Magic Gold Bar Tool VS the 2 metal bars.

I respect this guy, but I do the same shit. Except I'm in Michigan, and loaded tires aren't filled with water (it freezes in winter). He's lucky he wasn't sprayed with chloride or beet juice. I pump that shit out

That inner wheel split ring, I wouldn't put to much faith in. The gap it had was pretty wide. I can't understand why people would still use this design, when tons of conventional wheels are available, with adapters for them.

I bought a bus to convert into a RV last year. I have a leaky axle so am removing the wheels on the rear to get to it. First I've worked on a medium duty truck and first time working with budds. Thanks for sharing your info! I was gonna take it to a diesel mechanic but no one around here (east TN) wants to work on school buses... I'm handy with wrenches/tools so I guess I'll knock it out.
