METAL GEAR SOLID 3 MASTER COLLECTION FOXHOUND RANK/TROPHY GUIDE

Like yourself, I am huge Metal Gear Solid fan and so was beyond excited when I heard about the Master Collection Vol.1's release on PS5. After a lot of work across all the games the other day I managed to get Platinum trophies Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. These were the last ones that I needed to get all of the trophies for every game in the Vol.1 release. Your fantastic guides for the top ranks in MGS1, MGS2 (Damn that was a challenge!) and MGS3 were essential for me achieving those and I am incredibly grateful! As a token of my appreciation, as you have seen, I have given Super Thanks on your video guides that I found so helpful. Keep up the great work, your channel's content is brilliant... Just wanted to let anyone following this guide know, if you use the clock cheese to kill The End, you do not get the Mosin Nagant. If you drown yourself in The Sorrows fight, even if you use the revival pill, you will not get his camo. Just a note for anyone who plans on using the Mosin against The Fury, Volgin, and The Boss, or who plan to use The Sorrows camo on NG+.

I had never played Snake Eater on anything higher than normal, but this guide got me to beat Extreme with relative ease. Sure, I had to retry a bunch of parts dozens of times, but Im done with my first poaythrough and now going for Foxhound rank in NG+. Great video!

A couple of findings I had while following the guide, might be worth mentioning for those watching. Not a criticism at all to Perfect Stealth, thanks a bunch for this and the MGS2 guide! Perfect Stealth appears to be avoiding eating, (and I'm not sure why) going so far as to wear the Ocelot camo when it's not best suited, but there is evidence to suggest that eating doesn't affect your rank at all. I grabbed a bunch of crabs from the Pain boss cave and ate them as I went. As mentioned in a previous comment, The End boss for me was never laying down, always crouched so the shown tactic did not work as he would just flash me and run off from his crouch stance so I just had to run around after him and do it 'normally'. Also if you do the time cheese method I don't think you get the Mosin which is needed later on. Also worth holding him up for the Moss camo for NG players. Another heads up for NG players, Perfect Stealth forgets to mention upon returning to the lockers that you can now grab the Sneaking Suit from Raikov's locker and thus everyone can now wear it in the Volgin fight. Also I don't recall PS mentioning that this game has NO WAY of pausing the in game timer and thus you'll have to rest your console/open up a media app to suspend MGS3 if you're watching as you go. Again just a few inconsistencies I noticed while following along which are bound to happen. Thanks again to Perfect Stealth and GL to anyone going for Foxhound. If you managed Big Boss rank on MGS2 I promise you this is so much more doable 😅

Had same issue with End fight. I also could simply not get his escape strategy to work, and I ended up developing my own that is pretty similar but no thrown food required and only takes roughly 20 seconds longer. Oh and its super simple to do, like you will get it 100% of the time. For the last part for getting into sewers, I followed a different strat using the cig spray which I also found quick a bit easier.

Even if number of meals does matter, you can maintain high stamina through almost the whole game by using the healing radio frequencies which heal two bars of the stamina gauge

It's great to see a modern guide for this extremely satisfying challenge! I accomplished this back on the 3DS in 2014 using Camera camo exploits giving me 95% camo throughout most of the game. Did it again last year on the HD Collection, New Game. I plan on doing it on the Master Collection and original Subsistence PS2 release at some point.

First things first: great video so far. 👍I hope you dont mind, that i add some points. 21:25 If on new game + and you allready have the animal camo, u can use the Patriot in this fight. Ocelot never dies in this fight, so it doesent count towards your kills - Source: GDC MGS3 speedrun. 38:55 You can do the first strategy on a new game too. In order to do so, you have to pick up the AK 47 in the Rasvet area (u can do that before the Ocelot Unit fight - it is on top of the stairs) - Source: did it like that for a long time 1:09:29 I dont know if you mentioned it, but I skipped back and forth and couldnt hear it. If you are not on new game + and want the the sorrows camouflage, you have to finish the river till the end - Source: own experience or a quick google search 1:16:27 at this point you can have the sneaking suit, even on a new game (if people go back to pick up the maintenance camo - the sneaking suit is in this same lockerroom area inside the locker we put Major Raikov before - locker with red stripe on its door at 1:14:13) 1:26:02: Extra caution for everybody: If u finish the game and all of a sudden have a kill in your endscreen, it could be bacuase of this area. If you tranq someone in this area, there is a posibility, that the Shagohod runs this person over and this counts towards your kills. - Source: GDC MGS 3 Speedrun) I know that you are probably aware of all the mentioned above. But i think it could be interesting for all the new people joining the MGS family 😊

Cool notes. I will say that getting the AK in Rassvet for me wrecked the run a bit as some ammo placements for the Mk22 had been replaced with AK47. Specifically before The Pain boss and thus I ended up with not enough ammo to finish him with the MK22 as the game kept throwing AK ammo at me.

I followed this guide and still got 5 kills on the kill count, even though, no one, beyond the bosses and animals appeared at the sorrow, so I think that somehow, beating volgin on the Shagohod lethally counts as five, because this was the only time I used a lethal gun or I Tranqued some people and the Shagohod ran over them. (Who is or what is GDC?)

U cant kill Volgin on the Shagohod as it counts as kill (if u mean the last encounter/fight with Volgin). GDC is Games done quick, so speedrunner @@marciohenrique6465

Theres pretty much nothing in this guide that a regular guy can use. I can barely head shot the guards when im standing a foot away. Not even trying those far shots. Easier to go unarmed than try these trick shots

Great vid, my only complaint would be that surely there's room for easier but slower methods, considering you end up with 3+ hours to spare. The first Warehouse is one that is a good example, I wasn't able to do the flip/shot quick enough without getting spotted. But just taking your time and shooting each guard when it's safe is perfectly easy.

Really great guide. Super helpful. Doing first go at extreme. About an hour an half in and at the End with no alerts. So far so good. Can’t seem to take down the End though. Got him in a stun loop perfect when he was lying down but messed up the second bit once he had moved. Been reloading save all day but more often the not he is only semi couched and can’t get him in a loop when he is like that no matter how quick I am

On The End battle, for some reason when i reached him, he was sitting and just that changed the stategy for me. And on Raikov, everething was going well, but when the two guards were passing, Snakes Stomach growled at it was just funny seeing the stop and just stand there looking lmaooo

I gor the foxkound rank pretty easily, but i would appoint two things that seems very misunderstood -shagohod volgin boss fight: if you run into the shagohod he will eventually stop doing rockets and other ranged attacks, and will jnstead keep attacking you with the shagohod with minimum damage -The boss boss fight: i got crazy with this fight, becouse whilist the first 3 attacks are peetty easy to counter, form the 4th it will be nearly impossibile, the only way it eorled for me was running away from her when she was trying to cqc me and then press cqc button as soon as she was keeping me

By the end of this challenge it was getting on my nerves. Here is a small TIP though, to reset the game without selecting quit out to main menu, press and hold L1 L2 R1 R2 Start and Select (touch pad on PS5) I found that out after I got the platinum.

Thanks dude, I spent less time getting Foxhound on this than getting down the Ray on Extreme MGS2 for Big Boss rank lmao, but MGS3 is a lot of fun to run though. The biggest difference off the bat was how you did the run on NG+ which I am enjoying cause the different tech you pull off with the Spider camo etc, already changes a few things in a really interesting way. So for those who were following NG guides up till this point like me, your video is a breath of fresh air cause it's throws in a good bit of variety to the run itself, with the NG+ camo strats, and the commentary. The meal limit is a myth, an individual by the name of George salonikh, does MGS live streaming, and he did the man that ate the world challenge foxhound run while having a leech, poison, heavy item's, and having the spider camo at all times, and on the highest difficulty, and he still got the rank

Dunno if I screwed something up, but for anyone else puzzled with The End - My boss fight starts completely different. He doesn't shoot at the start but rather on the "safe path" to the ammo shed he's firing at me 😄 Also, when I get up to the hill he's on, he is crouched, not laying down and thus the strat here cannot be carried out successfully as he can stand up quicker and run off before the first stun G even ignites.

If he's crouched there, you can hold him up to make him lay down (this is also how you get his Moss camo, since you get his gun for the tranq kill)

I just found another way to escape after jail. You just need 1 ration. You throw it just like in the video and go straight for the same path. The guy near the vent will be still so i prone and peek a little so that he goes around the creates and i run behind him with a roll. The second part is the same, and now, for the third. You run straight for the exit. Make sure not to catch the vision of the guards at the tanks. They can see you for a little bit but that's ok. Then you run straight to the same spot where the guy throws the smokes but instead of that if you were fast enough you can run to the end and then prone so that the last guy doesn't see you. I did all of this because I forgot you can loot smokes out of Johnny.

@@munch762 you could but I wouldn’t recommend it it does have a smaller clip and isn’t as consistent. Sometimes you can beat him unloading the whole clip on him. Sometimes the whole clip doesn’t kill him and you need to finish him off with the MK22 or some food. With the AK you just fire from the hip and unload the whole magazine until you beat him.

I just want to let all the european folks out there that there's a bug with The End old age death: I saved on February 9th at the start of the battle and on February 10th it died of old age. I don't know if there's a bug with the format of the date but it just happened

Is there any way to pause the game now? I remember in your last video you said mgs3 was the only one which didn’t have a timer stop function

I'm not 100% sure if the time stops when you pause so I don't want to confirm/deny anything. I do remember people saying that the map screen in the menu does pause the timer for sure, but again, I cannot confirm this.

I saved during the end boss fight, i closed the app and i went to eating. Then i came back, load my save and the end died of old age. Thats really weird. I only took me like 20 minutes to eat

The Cardboard Box B skip into the truck did not work for me. I tried countless times basically mimicking you as best I can, but every time I tranq'd the guard it triggered a Caution, which changed up the pathing and did not allow you to just walk through. Was able to walk around and get to the truck where you just have to wait out the Caution if anyone else struggling here.

great video, currently helping me with my run, however for some reason my End fight has him crouching vs proning, its very irritating cause by the time I throw the second flash, he's already leaving.

Try holding him up to get him to lay down. Just don’t let me lay down all the way before hitting him with the spray.
